The rectifier is located underneath the right side rear panel, mounted to a plate on the subframe. Looks like this:



If you can find a unit from a newer bike, with the fins on it, that would be ideal. Through bikebandit it will run you about $160 to simply replace the original one, or you can find one on ebay for around $60.

thanks for the warm welcome and I totally agree, I don't want to ride with stupid speed freaks that I see around here...especially all the guys going fast with almost no gear on!! I'm blown away buy the all guys on R1s and Gixxer 1ks with a helmet, a leather vest with bare arms and shorts and no boots!!

Which is why I came here... to find folks who appreciate riding for riding... not cranking the throttle all the time... I went to barnes and noble the other day and was reading "Sport Riding Techniques- How to Develop Real World Skills for Speed, Safety, and Confidence on the Street and Track"

A great read and after I left the book store I tried some of the things I read about in regards to steering inputs and weight distribution and man... like night and day in regards to how more relaxed I felt and the smoothness of the bike. Thats the stuff I'm looking for...

I don't believe it will fit without some wiring work, but if you're comfortable with it, it's worth it. I can likely dig up the wiring schematic for the CBR.

Minus the rash, that F2 looks like its super clean. I love the paint scheme on it. I can't say that I've ever seen one before from that year/style range that caught my eye like yours.

I would love to but that will be something I'll have to save for as me and my wife are currently looking to move to a new place.
I'm also taking care of some new owner maintenance on her before anything else... changing the oil and filter, new NGK iridium plugs, seafoaming the enging.. and after that I need a new rear tire prob at the end of the summer...

damn priorities...lol..

Beet- a ton of people are lovin my old school CBR... its funny actually... went to parkway to get her inspection sticker and all the sales guys there we like drooling over her asking all kinds of questions I have no idea how to answer...lol.. all with gleaming, brand new blades, R1s and Gixxers all over the place..

Welcome and nice bike! You got a good start by taking the MSF course and it would be a wise decision to take the Experienced Riders Course also. This is basically all the more advanced exercises of the BRC except you do them on your own bike. It really helps to become acclimated to how your own bike will maneuver and provides a lot of good info. Seems like you have a very good frame of mind which will serve you well in your riding career.

Yo mate seems you know are already pretty mechanically inclined! When I get my bike I would love to talk about maintenance, and some things to go over and do to it right away just make it safe.

I have done my own research, but then gain I am only looking at a bowl of fruit salaD!

As to where to meet, the answer is, "as far as possible from Rhode Island". It is a well known fact that getting more than 4 bikes in the same place in RI is against the law and people will be shot. (I am bitter since Boston has a cool scene and we in RI rarely meet up).

Nice CBR! I have a 2008 and already scratched her up. I probably would have been smarter to get one like yours and ride the tires off of it before getting the '08. Live and learn...

If you wanna get better on the bike, just ride lots. Watch cars closely, look at peoples faces and movements in the vehicle to predict what they are up to, and don't be afraid to use a little extra juice to get out of a crowded/shifty/bad situation (like the clusterf*ck that always happens after toll booths).
