Hey guys new to the forum. I have been riding for 7 years now all mainly on the street. I have done a couple courses at the track. But this year I want to get serious about going more often. I plan on taking the penguin course with a few buddies in June. I would also like to get into a couple track days as well. I started purchasing all the gear a few months ago. I still have a few things to get but I am almost set up for it. Next I have to set up my bike. Anyone have any recommendations where I can have my bike race prepped and about how much it cost. If anyone has any advice or tips Please feel free.
Are you looking to just do trackdays, or begin racing?
Welcome.

Welcome to the forum.
For race prep, there are a few shops you can bring it to, but I would recommend doing it yourself so as to get yourself more familiar with working on your bike... unless of course you don't have the time to do so.
If you don't have much of a choice and need to bring it to a shop, I'm pretty sure Peter Kates at GMD Computrack can take care of that for you. I'd be willing to bet he's put his hands on at least half of the race bikes at Loudon.

I would like to race but my work schedule kinda sucks in the summer. I know for track days you don't need the full race prep. But why not have it done and be a little safer. I have done some prep before so I am not a complete noob. I have re done safety wire many times. But drilling all the holes is such a pain in the ass.
Nt650 do you still live in rockland. I grew up in Hanover.

I went through this last year and ended up doing it all myself... not as bad as it seems to drill the nuts yourself. I do remember looking all over for a shop (nearby) that would do this for me, but didn't really have any luck. Good luck w/it and there are plenty of people here willing to lend advice or answer any questions.

I have found a few places that say they will do it. But havent gotten a price yet. I ordered a few tools like the pliers and something to help with drilling the hole in the center of the bolts.
If you are going to do it find someone with a drill press and bring some sort of lubricating oil to put on the area and in the hole you are drilling. Pliers are going to have you breaking drill bits constantly and will end in frustration. (assuming you are going to be using a portable drill with pliers...)

Hahaha I meant the safety wire pliers guys maybe these are a useless tool . I would never attempt to hold a bolt with pliers as I drilled it. I have access to a drill press so I figured a vice and the press should work fine.
I would suggest bring it the night before a trackday and there will be lots of people and tools available.
Nice!!
Welcome!
See you at the track

welcome to the show! if your looking to get set up with getting safety wiring, Seacoast Sport Cycle can help. those guys are great with set up and helping riders get started..
June is the best time of year for Penguin. I will Highly recommend the two day school before the classic. Your getting two days of some serious track time, instruction and riding.. The beauty of it is that when your done you will have learned some good skills and confidence and if your like the rest of us you will sell your house, dog, cash in all your recycled cans and bottles so you can race the Loudon Classic weekend two days later.. .lol.. thats what I will be doing again this year!
If you need any help man send me a pm. Ill be more than happy to help you get set up.
