    New to NESR

Stumbled onto the forum recently, a passionate group ! Old guy at 52, been riding forever, current ride is a 2011 Ducati Mutlistrada - 50th b'day gift to myself, best machine i've ever had. Never done a track day but reading through some of the posts, might need to look for a track bike and give it a go. Just wanted to check in and say hello.

Welcome abroad, and you aren't that old for this group. Why not take the multi to the track? I was pitted with a guy riding a multi this past friday and he was moving.

i'd love to but i'd cry when i crash it and have to spring for the $$ parts. I sold an aprilia falco a while back, i should have kept that for the track but at the time, was spending a lot more time on riding in the woods.

Welcome! Your so old! But I'm older. Yeah don't put the multi on the track. Pick up an SV or EX500. Better yet don't do any track days and save the money for Ducati service.

When? Just pretend it's a closed road with no other cars and have some within your riding ability fun, oh wait it is...

i hear ya on the service, it'll go in for the 15k service in the spring, not looking forward to it an i'm not gonna mess with that motor myself. Thinking of a Tuono, my last aprilia never, ever broke in 20K miles.

Welcome to NESR. From what I hear the multi is a fantastic bike on the track. But, if you were going to buy a track only bike, pick small. The touno is a big powerful machine. It's much easier to learn to track ride on a small bike like the above mentioned ex500 or sv650. And, there are many older 600 track bikes for sale in the 2-3k range

    Welcome.

I've been riding ~18 years myself. I did my first ever track day about a month ago now. I'll tell you what I've told everyone else; I should have done this a decade ago.

I ride a V-Strom 650. I rode to the track with my tools, lunch, and a camp chair lashed to the back. I prep'ed the bike in the AM, ran it all day, then put it back together and rode home. Worked great. I shared garage space with a guy on a GL1800 'wing and another guy on a HD 1200 sportster. All three of us had a helluva good time. None of us crashed.

If I can do it, anyone can.

Its still a blast even if you crash. I have a story to tell for the rest of my life of how my dream of becoming a speed bump came true.

Chris, you weren't like a speed bump, more like a jump ramp

In the words of my wife ... "Don't Crash".

Amazingly it's actually pretty good advice.

Dumbing it down a bit, even on the track the "ride your ride" rules apply.

    Re: New to NESR

Bought a new Bandit New Years Eve 1999/2000, brought it home in the back of the truck for an hour in 15 degree weather so tires nice/cold, and not scrubbed in. Had to ride it a little - wife says "Don't crash" - went 300 ft down the road, 1st corner and down. busted up the bike, few broken bones so now i hear it every single time i head out. Dumb it down is good advice

As G21forme mentioned earlier, you're not that old.
There's many veteran (and fast!) riders in this forum that are older than you.
