    Welcome to the forum
Best of luck with the new bike... stay safe & educate yourself the best ya can... treat every ride as a learning experience.

Do you have any dirt background? They're two COMPLETELY different worlds, but it does help to a small extent.

Sent the thread to the Welcome and Intro section for ya.

Welcome to NESR man. Pay attention and learn everything you can from this group. There's tons of experience and knowledge to be gained here. Get yourself some good gear and RESPECT that motorcycle.

Well, I progressed from the other direction... started on the street & advanced to track days, then racing & instructing.... and THEN took things off-road to the dirt.

Dirt & road riding are *WORLDS* apart. Pretty much the only similarities are the controls and the number of tires ya got under you. Just about everything else is different, most notably, the near infinite number of variables found on the street and how much faster you come up on them (due partly to the huge jump in power & acceleration).

So just keep that in mind... mistakes are much more costly on the street.

Anyway, a rather large number of members here are instructors either for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (where you can take a two day course and get your MA motorcycle endorsement on your license) or up at the local race track (where licensed street riders can hone their skills in an enclosed environment). Some members fall under both categories... and in a couple months I'll be one of them

Basically what I'm sayin is that we've ALL got a lot of opportunity to learn from some very experienced riders here.... don't miss out

Re: New to the forum. how are ya guys?

That's a pretty mean first machine so the only advice I will give is "be patient", "slow and easy" and "gear up".

If ever you find yourself riding scared-for-your-life while trying to keep up with other riders, don't be afraid to dial it back. Anyone who makes fun of you for being "too slow" are not people you should ride with in your first years on a motorcycle. Thankfully, NESR is devoid of such people.
