Well, part of me wants to say "fake" but the rest of me likes that women have stopped feeling dependent on a guy for a bike. As said before, SCRLT is in your area, and she's been on two wheels for a little while now. She can show you around the area, I'm sure.
If you're game, I lead a newbie ride every year (this year will likely be in July, though I'm secretly hoping I can get my ass organized before then), which usually brings out a female or two. The last "girls' ride" that I know of was, what, two years ago? Maybe three? We mostly just ride as people, and don't try to segregate by sex, though I do know where you're coming from wanting to meet other ladies with a shared interest. Hang around long enough and you'll find that mostly everyone is okay here

I used to go to all of those when I had my Jetta, used to hang out with the Boston Euro Unit guys, not sure if they're still around but I made and still have a ton of friends from that. Made the drive down to H20 in Delaware a few times as well, that was an absolute blast...then I realized I can't daily drive a car 3 inches lower than its supposed to be with wheels sticking out of the wheel wells. I parted it out and bought my Passat and haven't looked back. Volkswagens will always hold a special spot in my heart though.

I believe what they are talking about is there have been more than a couple times a girl signs up for this forum who really aren't girls but just pose as them to stir up the pot and get some kicks... Winter tends to be a silly time of the year on this forum because people are itching to break the speed limit on two wheels and scrape their knee's on the ground.
