There's actually a BUNCH of threads online about the 06/07 gixxers and the rectifiers getting fried. Bunch of people have posted up pics of them too. Concerns the crap out of me.

Interesting. Well I have a spare one if you need it. The plug is broken off, but the wires are fine.

I actually relocated mine to a place that keeps it cooler.

and that's exactly the problem, the stock location of the rectifier has a ton of heat and they eventually fry. Some guy on gixxer.com makes a bracket that relocates it to the side of the bike away from the radiator. Bought one just haven't relocated it yet.

here's a picture of where i mount my rectifier.
i know the factory setup has a bracket there for the horn. i just used a 10mm nut into one of those threads for the bracket & run the wiring through the side of the frame.

NOTE: dont pay attention to the broken frame

Why thank you! Although unfortunately don't know when I'll be out riding again I was out riding today and my bike caught on fire as I was riding . Definitely not fun ! Pretty scary actually , extremely happy there happened to be a guy behind me with a few gallons of water in his truck , saved me for sure . After alil research I guess the rectifier caught fire which seems to be a common problem with the 06/07 . Sucks

When your bike breaks, it ALWAYS sucks. Doesn't matter what bike or who you are.

Also, it's guaranteed the weather will be spectacular while the bike is in the shop, the shop will be 100% late compared with the delivery estimate, the price will be 3X what you expected, and when you get it back there will be rain storms, floods, and hordes of locusts.
