Hey all,
I joined the forum a while back, but never actually did anything on here, so I thought I'd be a bit more active.
I first started riding right after graduating college, in India of all places. Work sent me there for 6 months, and I decided to rent a motorcycle so I wasn't so dependent on the tuk-tuks. It was a POS 125cc bike, which was actually the perfect size for the roads and traffic there. I left the rental place not knowing how to ride, and dropped it off 6 months later in love with riding and everything it brings: being connected to the road, getting to know new people, and peaceful meditation (unless stuck in Bangalore traffic with trucks tapping your rear wheel).
Seven years later, I now ride a Suzuki V-Strom, I've had it for 2 seasons now, and love it. I can have fun on the twisties, and be very comfortable getting there on the highway. I commute to work in Boston from time to time as well.
I don't have many riding partners, so if you are in the Waltham area and are looking to head out, reach out to me!

India was amazing. Riding in all types of terrain: mountains, desert, coast, off road, etc. Have to dodge cows in the middle of the road, and monkeys getting into our stuff. It was really an experience of a lifetime.
Haven't done anything crazy long yet, mostly day rides out to western mass, most I've done was probably ~300 miles in one go. I'm heading out to the Mt. Washington area this weekend, and plan on camping for a night. Working my way up to going down the east coast and camping along the way, probably next summer.

Cool bike. Here's mine (hint: it looks a lot like yours!).

welcome/ nice bike
Fun. But that might be the track, not necessarily the bike.
Overall it is kinda big, kinda slow, kinda heavy, with kinda shitty suspension, kinda so-so brakes. I found new springs and emulators up front made me way happy.
It is fun to listen to the "you did whut.. on that!" compliments if you happen to string a decent lap or two together.
But overall I was paranoid about crashing and/or damaging it and so I bought a dedicated track toy... which I promptly crashed.
I'll tell you though; I just cap'ed off about 400 miles chasing these nut-balls through western NH and VT. And I can't think of another bike I would have rather done it on over the V-Strom.
Here is a schedule.

Current: 690E. Past: FE250, S1000XR, S1000R, Streefighter S, Monster S2R1000, RC51
