    UFC 154: GSP vs Condit

Finally got around to watching this fight, yet haven't watched the rest of the card yet...

I enjoyed it. I'm a big Condit fan, but impressive performance by GSP as always...I really wish he finished fights though. He did a great job recovering and I think Condit did all he could to try to finish that fight when he had the chance, GSP just fought back hard and dug deep. If Condit didn't get opened up in the first round I wonder if he would have any more luck pulling off a submission. He obviously knew he'd be fighting off his back a lot and seemed to have prepared very well. He had a very active guard, always moved GSP back into full guard, and took very very little damage on the ground. His stand-up looked great too, but fighting off GSP's shot just appears to be impossible these days.

But GSP, holy shit how the hell did he weigh in at 170! He was absolutely gigantic, and the strength showed. Condit did all he could to try to stay on top the couple chances he had, but he just got out muscled. Gotta be frustrating to be in the best shape of your life and be man-handled like that.

I really want to see GSP smash in Diaz's face, hopefully that fight happens.

Thoughts on GSP vs Anderson Silva? I think a catch weight would make sense, but that means no belts would be exchanged....I think GSP could easily make the weight increase to 185, but then he'd be subject to Anderson's superior striking and large reach advantage with Anderson at full strength. On the other hand, I think the weight cut to 170 would be extremely difficult for Silva and may compromise his inability to stuff the take downs. It'd be a fun fight to watch, I'd assume a lot like Sonnen vs Silva 1.

GSP is a monster. It'll take him going too far up out of his weight class to lose.

I feel pretty much the same way about the GSP/Condit fight. The undercards weren't too bad either, although I would've liked to see the 'old timers' (quotes because some of the old timers are 10-15 years my junior) do better...

Decent fights on Bellatore Friday night too. Local NH boy won his match...

I honestly don't think GSP WANTS to fight Silva. I too like the catch weight thoughts on it. But I still don't think GSP will go for it...

Re: UFC 154: GSP vs Condit

IMHO I was disappointed that Condit lost this fight. The way Condit stayed in that fight, to me shows that GSP is not pound for pound the best fighter. As mentioned above George can not even finish a fight. GSP won purely by scoring on all the take downs. I will give it to GSP not fighting for 18 months and putting out a good show.
I do not want to see a Silva vs. St-Pierre fight. I was hoping Sliva vs. Bones. I would like to see Dana White give Johnny Hendricks a shot at GSP.
