    BRUINS

Season *potentially* starting November 2 if they players agree to the 50/50 revenue split proposed by the owners. Their plan, if the players union agrees, is to still have an 82 game season by squeezing in the missed games. Here's hoping

And college hockey. New England has some of the best teams in the country, and it's very inexpensive.

You really know so little about so much...

    Anyway!

I read the NHL's proposal and the 50/50 "split" was more of a media play by the NHL than an actual bargaining chip, the drastically reduced hockey related revenue by increasing ownership hold backs for expenses. They weren't offering a good faith proposal, it was more of a ploy to hopefully build stronger public opinion behind the owners over the players, I think it failed. I heard on Felger and Mazz last night that the players union submitted 3 different counter offers all of which Gary B. said were "far from" anywhere near the owners.

I would be surprised if we see hockey at all this year. With owners like Jeremy Jacobs running the show, and the players able to go play in Russia or Eastern Europe for big contracts, there really is not huge incentive to get a deal done quickly.

    Re: BRUINS

You would think if the two sides are even remotely close to reaching a deal, the owners would bend more.
The "Winter Classic" has been a huge success... even for the casual hockey fan. It would be disaster for the league to miss this nationally televised game.

I agree, but I don't see it happening.

    Re: BRUINS

I would like to see ANYONE take a 7-8% pay cut without a gripe..... Owners are being greedy and the players are sticking to their line in the sand. I hate to see the NHL not have a season, but I am proud to see the players stand their ground. The over seas contracts aren't as big as people think. I COULD see the Russians staying in the KHL though, decent to good hockey with alot less banging and more finesse. Players over there last longer with better twilight years in their careers. G21, just think.... hockey is football on skates at full throttle all.... night..... long....

    Re: BRUINS

Went to the Worcester Sharks game tonight, it was a nice cheap game, but they sucked tonight, or rather the NJ was just way too good.. Super seats red line 12 rows from the glass for $25, parking $10, and only 20 minutes from my front door. Not the NHL, but I'll take it for now.
