Need new cell phone plan with unlimited data, 3 lines. PLZ HELP!

My daughter cannot control her data usage, so I need to goto an unlimited data plan.

I know some of you miserly types look into this and probably can direct me where to go.

I don't mind buying new devices, need the unlimited plan, but it would be great if we could reuse the devices we have now...

I'm with Verizon and have an Android. My 2 kids both have iPhones and are with AT&T.

Gotta combine mine and theirs into 1 plan....

What say you?

Had the same issue recently. Upped my plan to 8GB and added parental controls which allow you to cap the data amount for the lines on your plan. Problem solved, they learn to manage their allocated data or go without until the cycle ends. Verizon.

If you want to stay with ATT or Verizon, and I think you do for coverage, I don't think you can get unlimited. Anyone talking about unlimited on either of those were grandfathered in from a half decade ago. ATT and Verizon just shook up their plans finally. But if you go with a group plan, I think it'll be a shared data pool. This means if she can't help but rack up data usage, it'll have an impact on your usage. You could go TMobile for unlimited, but I'd pay close attention to coverage. It's just good enough around here that you'll meet people who claim it's fine, but IMO, it really doesn't compare to Verizon/ATT. Especially in non-urban areas.

How much effort has been spent on trying to real things in, and what kinda usage are we talking about? 5gig/month? What's the averages between the 3 of you?

Could just go StraightTalk, which is on the ATT network. Once you hit the 3Gig limit per line, it just throttles the speed back to 3G data speeds.

Why do you need an unlimited data plan? Have a conversation with your daughter and set a limit with her. This is a perfect opportunity to teach her how to manage her resources. If she has X amount of data per month, she will forced into adjusting her usage. Problem solved.

T-Mobile is the only unlimited on that I know of, but definitely heed the warnings above about coverage. Not sure that the minor league carriers are offering these days. The VZW bastards are finally nixing my grandfathered unlimited plan.

Make sure your daughter utilizes wifi when available and if she has an iOS 9 device, go into the settings and disable "Wireless Assist" feature.

Same with Cricket, except 2.5GB/mo. I also like their flat rate plans - they charge you $40, you get billed $40. They're about the same price as StraightTalk from what I've seen.

Cricket is a subsidiary of AT&T FWIW.

Yep. Data coverage is still coverage. In fact, I'm pretty sure voice coverage is generally better than data coverage. Often, they're effectively the same in that you have both or none. But they are technically different. There are remote areas that you can make calls, but can't google a thing. Remote areas will also have 3G or Edge instead of 4G/LTE, which is noticeably slower. Or weak signal 4G/LTE which means you might get what you want eventually (like a minute or more) or it might time out.

Full disclosure: my knowledge on the detailed nuances of the different data spectrums is a bit fuzzy.
