Rivian is first with the R1T.

Electric F150 is said to be 6 months behind this and the Cybertruck is an entire year behind schedule.
The future of electric vehicles is so exciting.
We'll see who gets mine delivered first: Rivian R1t (in Forest Green), or the Cybertruck.

In the electric world, you really should think before jumping in bed with the old guard of GM, Ford, Dodge. They're all behind in the tech and are making rushed to market mistakes:

Not really sure it's fair to single out the "old guard", it would be VERY easy to link critical articles of Tesla, Volvo, Kia, Volkswagen, etc, and trying to fairly quantify the issues with Tesla is nearly impossible because of the wild devotion to that brand. And in all fairness, this is new tech, anyone looking to get into the game this early should be going into it with a quasi "leap of faith" no?
Fill disclosure, we just parked a Mach-E in our driveway last week, what an amazing machine, absolutely love it, but it isn't without some glitches...
Oh, and I love what I see from the Rivian, the specs and how the platform can be customized, so cool.

I hope the OEMs find a way to give performance oriented EVs some soul. Admittedly, I have only driven utilitarian/ecofriendly varieties that also happen to put down good numbers on paper. The lack of noise, smells, quirky powerbands, manual controls, etc really takes something away. A sub 6-second 0-60 launch in these vehicles feels inauthentic. Its the uncanny valley of driving experience.
I hear what you're saying, the Mach-E has some engine noise piped through the speakers when I put it in "UNBRIDLED" mode, the noise is just as corny as the name... I wonder if they could finagle a manual transmission??
But, I have to say, while I wouldn't necessarily call it soulfull, the "driving experience' is pretty awesome, instant rush of acceleration and really solid handling. Also, the nearly silent ride is pretty enjoyable.

Didn’t we have this discussion already about books vs Kindles?
The performance of the electric vehicle I’ve been in so far make me yearn for results without the drama.

So lets not forget that in allll fairness, this isn't new tech. GM abandoned the electric car lead 20+ years ago and went and took back all 1100 EV1s they produced instead of continuing down the path

I really am hoping my next pickup can be electric. Not quite there when I bought my Colorado. 5 years away? That seems highly likely. Really a great segment that’s going to push the technology forward for the whole market. Everyone getting into electric will benefit from the R&D being done on pickups right now.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Why 5 years? Isn’t the cyber truck coming out in like 6-9 months? lmao. Oh wait.

Alpha's styling is on point!
I get the soul thing... kinda
Again, back to RC cars....
My nitro one needs a ton of maintenance, but you pull start it, the smell of nitro methane burns your nose, its loud as shit and revs to 35k rpm, its a little animal, it IS pretty cool..... but tops out at like 40 and barely pulls a wheelie.
My brushless one... Sure, you just plug it in, it makes no sound... but it is so fast it is essentially chassis limited. I can gear it until the vehicle literally wont go any faster without crashing. It will blow over with WOT. Whether you roll into it slow, or just punch it.
It can get to the point where at 75% throttle it gets floaty, and ever so slowly increasing the throttle it will simply blow over. It literally can go any faster. Were talking 75+ mph.
My point is that who needs soul in a car when it can accelerate fast enough to make you start to grey out a bit. That type of performance is soul in itself.
The performance is THAT different.
Im guessing youve never felt a 1.99 0-60....
