anyone have a ready ramp?
to my surprise - this attaches to the tailgate via straps? how secure is it when used as a bed extender?
feedback on strength? does it flex much when used for dirt or street bikes?
ramp
bed extender
I'm finally fed up with my flexing, narrow, non-bed-extending Reece ramp from Lowe's...and I like the idea of using the ready ramp as a bed extender too...and when we travel, the tailgate is down, our gear isn't tied down in the back, and the ramps are usually poorly secured in the bed. So the bed extender can give us some more room in the back for a gas can and gear bag
saw one on CL for $125...going to offer $90 and take a counter offer at $100...

I sold my ready ramp last year (when I sold my truck). I loved the thing. I had the 1000lb one, didn't flex at all, handled my R6 and my 800lb cruiser easily. Worked great as a bed extender, too. The straps it comes with hold it securely, but honestly, I just cliped it to the tie downs in my truck and it didn't bounce at all. Folds up easy. You can read my for sale thread & see a pic, i meant everything in the description: http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...-Extender-Ramp
For $125 you're getting a really good deal IMO. If it's missing the straps, you can get them from ReadyRamp for $25. If I ever buy another truck, I'd be buying another ReadyRamp.
I have the lighter duty one. I love it, and it's very sturdy with no flex. Hooks nicely onto the tailgate, so no need to tie it to the bumper or anything like that. You'll love it.
perfect...oncheek - I see you had a 4x4 with an R6 too, which is good, since my truck is lifted and I have an FZR600.
$125 isn't a bad price either...if he doesn't take any offers, I'll take it for that price too
do you guys recommend the storage bracket for $18 on ebay?
I'd like to keep it stowed in the truck (with a u-lock going through a d-ring or something...can't trust anyone in long beach, ca)

Wirelessly posted (GS3)
Ive been thinking about getting one of these or at least one that folds in half. My trailer is pretty low so I obviously dont need a 10ft ramp, but thats what ive got. May have to pony up this summer.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

I never got that since I had a bed cover. For $18, why not if you intend to store it in the truck. Would also double as a bed divider if you don't want crap sliding/rolling all over.
Also, if you don't know, they make 2 lengths: one for full size trucks and one for non fullsize trucks. Make sure you get the correct one for your truck.
thanks...the previous owner used it on a ram and titan...so it should fit my F-150; but I'm going to test fit it regardless
I am planning on the bracket - back when I had a Tacoma with a bed extender, I did like having a divider in the bed for miscellaneous cargo:
including eggs
oxx - if you use a trailer, you won't need the bed extender component of the ready ramp for $280. Just buy a folding ramp from CG or equivalent for ~$130

got the ready ramp!!
used twice...paid less than 1/2 of what a new one would cost
when I really cinched down the cambuckle straps that came with it, the ready ramp is held down to the tailgate quite securely...I'm confident in having gear bags slide into it at freeway speed without knocking it off.
construction is good - this is a relatively solid ramp...and it has 4 degree bends so a streetbike wouldn't scrape going into the bed
and for being the older, "heavier" model (the newer i-beam construction is lighter), it was just as easy to carry as any other ramp
where do you get d-rings and which ones?

so...hypothetically speaking, what if:
-you're helping a friend move his mattress frame across town
-the frame is too big to fit into the bed with the tailgate up...so you have to drive with the tailgate down
-you don't want to use tie-downs on the frame in fear of scratching the laminate
-you're afraid of the mattress frame falling out of the truck
?
use the ready ramp: bed frame protected from falling out!
we also used it as a ramp to get his '05 ZX-6R into the same truck, and it worked flawlessly - bike didn't scrape (because of ramp length and 4 degree curve @ bends), and it stayed put without flexing (unlike the Reese ramp I had from Lowe's). I used a tie down against the hitch for security, and once tightened, felt solid as a rock. I would ride a dirtbike into the truck confidently without worry of the ramp coming off. I just need a second ramp to walk up that's also easy to stow in the bed of the truck...
however, after driving around for one day, I determined that:
1.) I want the rail mounts - although the ramps stay relatively put (because if its weight), I don't want it bouncing around when I corner hard around exit ramps
2.) I want to leave it in the bed without some dick jacking it overnight in long beach: I will place a d-ring below the ramp, drill out the head of the bolt so nobody can unscrew it, then just put a bicycle u-lock through the d-ring and around a rung of the ramp for security.

this thing rocks
length is good:
having the "bends" sit at 4 degree angles helps to ensure street bikes don't scrape:
now I can drive without worry about the ramp (or a gear bag) falling out on the freeway
this also added a useful amount of cargo space on the tailgate

update - this thing rocks...so easy to use, good construction, has no problem loading bikes (with a 2nd person)
but I got fed up with taking in/out of the apartment...so I just ponied up and spent the $55 on a storage bracket...
I want to leave the ramp in the bed, and don't want it sliding around...
otherwise, it really comes in handy...3 times in 1 week!

storage brackets came in...
it's a little different than what I expected: it swings side to side when you're driving...so it's not really a stable entity to attach things to if you were going to use it as a bed divider
attachment is pretty simple - it clamps to your bed rails. Put it wherever you want, just slide the clamps to your preferred location and re-tighten
to hook up the ready ramp, unbend a cotter pin, pull out the clevis pin, line up with ramp and reverse the steps
the use of a cotter pin sucks - it requires you to take a few minutes with a set of needlenose pliers to unbend a tiny cotter pin and negotiate it through a pin-size hole just to take off or put the ramp on.
needless to say, I dumped it in exchange for a clamp-on style safety pin...even a hitch-pin style clip would've been more effective
pretty happy with it overall...ramp is now in the truck all the time
