    Surf casting

So I'm looking to do some striper fishing from the near by beaches here on Cape Cod. I've always done freshwater fishing so I'm not versed in the gear for saltwater surf casting.

I'm looking for rod/reel combo less than $125, good line and tackle. Bass pro has some stuff on sale but I'm not sure what I'm going to need.

Go to Red Top on the Cranberry Highway, they can hook you up. But $125 is going to be cutting it close to getting a half decent rig.

Probably not the best surf cast rig, but I've been trying to sell my boat rod. It's a 6.5' Penn with a Penn 330i reel. You'd probably want a spin cast whereas this is a bait cast. It is in great shape, only been fished a few times and washed down religiously. Works as it should, let me know if you are interested in it. Sorry for the spam, just throwing it out to save you a couple bucks if it will work out for you.

    Re: Surf casting

My suggestion is a Penn Battle reel. 5000 is the size I'd go with. I bought mine as an "entry level" reel about 5 years ago, and I still love it. It's been through hell in the canal, and I don't maintain it whatsoever. Have them spool it for you, it's the cheapest way to buy braided line because they get it in bulk.

Ugly stick makes a good rod for the money. I'd steer clear of anything cheaper or any of the off brand stuff.
