Long story show I drive like a dick and have warped the shit out of my Rotors. Need new ones way beyond cutting.
My problem is Honda was brilliant and put half of the hub outside the Rotor. They call the "trapped rotor" how clever . . . you assholes. Its pressed on there.
There is a special tool I'm looking for pictured below. Its pretty simple threads into the lugs and allows you to pull just the outer Hub and rotor off. Without that tool its pretty much the biggest bitch of a job ever. Its needed to do the brakes on every Accord 90-97
Sooooo anyone know anyone with said tool? Or have any clue where I could rent one? Already checked with a few parts stores to no luck. If anyone happens to have it or know someone that does, I'd like to borrow it for a weekend if at all possible.
Thanks
BTW found it online but its $150 and i'd rather not spend that if possible lol

I have done those a couple different ways.....
Slide hammer.... sucks but works some times
Pull both knuckles... (separate upper ball joint, lower and tie rod) press it out or bring it to a shop press it... You do not need to get it pressed back together, when you torque the 36 mm axle nut it will take care of that..
You can drive ?m10? bolts into the back of the hub and pull it out that way..

This is the bolt method... Technically they are not "pressed" on... Only "captive" but they seize together...

very interesting. Thanks a ton, I'm probably gonna give that bolt method a shot. I just don't want to deal with taking the whole knuckle off. I'm perfectly capable just lazy lol

I FUCKING HATE THE BRAKES ON THESE CARS! Never been able to get the rotors off. Didn't know about that trick for putting bolts through the back. I was able to remove the other 4 bolts back there with an offset wrench but it was quite a pain.

I'm not real familiar with hondas but are they just weird when it comes to brakes? I just did my friends 09 accord coupe rears. Thing has 20k on it! Apparently there's some class action lawsuit for these cars because they failed with the proportioning valve and the rears are wearing way too soon. Honda was offering $150 to owners even though the dealer charges $300 to do them...sounds fair right?![]()
I have a 96 that had drivers side rotor chewed. When i found out about the captive rotors, I just took a grinder to it while i had it jacked up, both wheels turning at idle in drive and made like a surface grinder/brake lathe. then toook a small wood block, wrapped emery cloth on it and did some touch up
that was 18K ago, still have good braking and used the cheapest semi-metallic compound pads pepautoboyzone had ....................
