Recommend a wedding photographer

Getting married next June (2008) and looking for a photographer.

The wedding will be in Bellingham, MA; and the reception is at White Cliffs, Northborough, MA

So far we've checked out these photographers:
Andrea Burns Photography
Photography Associates
Penny Lynn (out of Grafton... no website)

Right now, we're leaning towards Andrea Burns (she actually did my fiancee's sister's wedding - awesome work). But I think it costs $4000?

What we are looking for is someone with a good eye who can take photojournalistic photos (i.e. those really good candid shots that capture the day). I feel like most competent photographers can do traditional/classical shots. Also, if they've got good package deals to boot, that's also a plus.

Any suggestions? Also if you got married recently, or know someone who did, and could fill me into some of the prices paid for photography (obviously, only if you want to share that info).

They were very cool. Young, mid-30's. Been doing it for a few years full time. Nice home stdio and impressive portfolio.

They loved our wedding since we forbid anyone to dress formal!!! We required a 50's theme, but jeans and a polo shirt were cool. They were happy as they could just be themselves.

All the photo's were great, the layouts were great and the price was reasonable. We couldn't have asked for anyone better. Not stuffy, great sense of humor and good listeners.

They are based in Agawam, just west of Springfield.

Heather Anderson photography did my pics (portfolio). She's in springfield, ma and is booked all the time so not only is she good, you have to get a hold of her in advance! i dont know what she would charge for a wedding, though.

although i only posted staged ones on my myspace page, she did do many candids and used to shoot for versace.

not sure if she has a website but i have her phone # if you are interested in more info...

i did tell her to be available for my wedding b/c i was hiring her....now just need a groom, lol

I did my long time friends' wedding last year myself. I'm no pro by any means, just a hobby. I'd be willing to take some photo's for ya (those candid type shots).

I'd love to go the student photographer/amatuer route... but 1. don't think I could convince the fiancee, and 2. like you said, you're not a pro, so there'd be no photo album, etc. etc. 3. I'm sure of the folks there will take photos.

Let's face it, you just want to come to the wedding to get a free dinner and some booze. If you're Viet, I'll just say you're family from out of town whom I've never met. Yeah... that'll do. Plus I can pay you in rice for the pictures, right? Or a couple cases of Eagle Brand oil...?

We recently got married and were VERY pleased and VERY Impressed with the guy from NHImages. i can get you his number or you can check out NH Images - Wedding Photography & Videography NH, MA, VT, ME, CT you can see some of our wedding photos on his site as he posts them a few days after the wedding for people to preview them. we paid $1299 for 4 hours but he does have other packages. We also get every single photo he takes on disk(he uses digital) and then he makes a album with slected pictures for you.
I would highly recommend him for his price and the fact that the only time we even knew he was there was when we were doing the Posed family photos and when he was leaving he asked if we wanted him to hang around and try to get more pics.
