I know there are a few horsey folks on the board... Its been almost 2 years since I moved here from Colorado...and I miss my horses so bad I can't take it any more, I'm about ready to sell a kidney so I can bring one out here...
Any tips on boarding stables? I know its really hard to find on the East Coast, but I would prefer pasture board, or at least something with a paddock. I think my mustang gelding would lose his mind in a box stall even with daily turnout... Looking for something within an hour of Boston...preferably with an indoor arena for winter... Wouldn't mind bringing a second horse out to to stick in pasture somewhere too... Any info would be appreciated!
We used Hampton Hill Farm, but that is too far away from you. Good luck!

There is a paddock at NHMS.
The glue factory!! Thats terrible!
Elm Hill is nice, with an indoor arena. My daughter used to board her horse there.

Also, Stony Hill, in Hardwick is awesome, but a bit more expensive. Their facilities are Olympic quality.

Locally N of Boston you have Flying High stables (indoor and box stalls, possibly a few in outs), Windkist farm (indoor, box stalls, some in outs) (both are in North Reading / Andover)
The only pasture board you will find in the area is NH and central / western MA. There are a few private stables in people backyards that offer continous turnout but no indoor and often no or small ring.
Most places with indoors around here run $550 - 750 per month. You will also be at the mercy of any riding lessons going on as instructors get preference.
I keep mine in Harold Parker state forest - its an old barn but the care is excellent. No indoor but easy access to lots of trails - they probably have a few in / outs open right now.
PM me if you want more info.
Just make sure that if you go that route, that they have decent run-in sheds. And make sure you have proper blanketing, since it gets chilly at night.
You also may want to look into places which have the turn-out areas connected to a box stall, so the horse would have the option to come in or go out as it pleases.
Femmekat,
I know that with in a couple miles of my house there are more than 3 or four places that board horses, there is one in Berlin and it's pretty nice looking and it's set on a huge hill that overlooks all of Wachusett Valley. I ride by it on my way to work because the view is beautiful, it is on Saywer Hill Rd which is about 1 mile from 495 exit 26. lots of room (70 acres) for the horses to roam too. I can even go visit the house if you teach me how to ride one. Never been on one but ALWAYS wanted to try!

GOOD LUCK, I hope you are able to get at least one of them out here.

There's a couple around us with indoors/riding rings/paddocks/run-ins/stables, blah-blah-blah. I'm guessing this'll be a bit more north than you'd like though...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
There is a place in dracut called cutter farm.
there is also a bunch in westford.
The real question is, Why would you move here from Colorado?
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
Not to hijack the thread, but I just came back from Co. Springs, and if I never go back there, that will be fine with me. The mountains are nice, but the yuppy filled city is not for me. The houses are 4 feet apart! The traffic was rediculous. No way I could live there.
i drive by larkspur farm in Acton ma almost every day, lots of land outside, large looking facility on route 119 minutes from the concord rotary. might be worth a look.
nine times out of ten its an electric razor, but...every once in a while...its a dildo. of course its company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo, we have to use the indefinite article "a" dildo ...and not..."your"...dildo...
Have looked at a couple barns...so far really like Flying High stables in Andover.... good sized indoor, mellow environment, and all day turnout...
That joke was about as lame as FDR's legs
