Looking for recommendations for a Blu ray player, must have apps, under $200 and not be a Sony......
I'll bite. Why not Sony? Don't care for products that work?

Sony Blu Ray players have a issue streaming from Amazon and I'm sick of paying shows like Strike Back that "skip".....
Then don't stream with your BluRay player. Roku and AppleTV are much better streamers than most BluRay players, and are way less $$.

I would prefer to keep it all in one device if possible, also the Roku 3 is $100 and most Blu ray players I have been looking @ are @ the same price point right now.
Although the Roku 3 does offer The "Play on Roku" feature" feature which if it actually works well would be huge for me so I could stream Thursday night football from my phone...
I have tried the Chromecast and the Samsung allshare cast hub, both of which have been returned.
And Apple TV is out, don't own any Apple products and don't have any plans to.

Right now the Chromecast is being held back by Google's restrictive use terms on their SDK. Many companies have applications ready to go for it but aren't allowed to release them. The latest word is Google will be finalizing the SDK some time in December which should open up a huge amount of possibilities with the device.

I have a used PS3 that I use for netflix. It often skips.. can't tell if its my connection or the device. I've been told my woes may be a sign that the HDD in the device is about to go.
It's noisy as hell. Fan sounds like a jet engine.
I've been thinking about replacing it as I don't game much anymore. Solid state devices appeal because I imagine they don't have that problem.
