I hate asking this kind of stuff, but as the title says, does anyone know of friendly inspection stations on the Seacoast? I never got my car inspected when I moved to NH, got stopped a week ago with a verbal warning so now it needs to get done. My only concern is that I have tint on my rear window. Nothing on the front 4, only the rear. The car is completely stock otherwise, so I don't want to fail because of tint. Any recommendations (Besides remove the tint)? Feel free to PM me if you want it to stay private.

Problem is I think the rear window is less than 35%. Cop owned my car before I bought it, and it was all tinted out. Looked great for a little over a year until I got pulled over, then I removed the tint except for the rear (since the defrost lines and radio antenna are easily damaged with tint removal).
I really don't understand why in NH you can walk into a gun store and walk out with the weapons of your choosing plus ammo, but I can't tint my front windows.

You are correct about the light transmittance needing to be at least 35% for the rear glass. Hopefully a seacoast nesrian can chime in where to go. Many shops won't scrutinize your glass with a tint meter, but obviously you need to know where to go... or not go, first.
Have you thought of removing the tint? There are ways to take it off without destroying the defrost lines.

I can't remember what the tint % is. If its 35% then ok. The problem is, if there is tint you must have a tint meter to test it. Since tint meters are not required, most(at least the shops I've worked at) don't have one. On the other hand if its not noticeable...
The main reason I see for not allowing tint is so other driver/rider can see if you are paying attention. When I'm on my bike, and most of the time in my car, and I'm coming up to an intersection I look to see if the driver is at least look in my direction. LOF my say its for their safety when making stops, which makes it comical when they tint the windows on their POV's.

A NH inspection station is required to have a tint meter in order to inspect a vehicle with tinted glass.
The shops that don't have the meter are not supposed to inspect these vehicles. Again, it is another silly requirement (similar to headlight aiming equipment), but that's how it's written and enforced.

AVI8... go to a smaller, independently operated shop and you should be fine.
Typically, the red flag goes up with tint on the front windows, which obviously you don't have.
So basically, stay away from name brand shops, dealers etc and find a small garage?

I know a couple of places around the southern nh area Nashua/Manch.....

One trick to taking off tint is the trash bag technique. Grab a tb and tape it to the outside of your window and let it sit for at least an hour in the sun. The tb will break down the glue and you will be able to remove the sheet in one piece. After all you have to use is a mixture of ammonia and water to remove the left over glue. 75amm/25water.
You will not have to use one razor blade. I used this on my old civic hatchback and it came out mint. Plus the defroster worked mint afterwards.
If you don't want to deal with that work then the ball pean hammer idea is much better.

Yeah I've done the trash bag trick before on my old car, and even on this one. The problem is that it's not hot enough out to really get the glass up to temp. I've always removed tint in the summer. Spray a solution onto the window, trash bag and 85 deg cloudless day would result in the tint peeling off after a few hours of sitting.
