Pet owners, I need some help/advice.

So my future wife and I are leaving on our honey moon Oct5 for 9 days. And I'm lost on finding a place for our puppy while we're gone. I've called a few boarding places already but won't take puppies (under 6months old) since they are too young for rabies vaccination. She's already up to date including shot for Kennel Cough (she's almost 4months old).

So I was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable boarding for my pup? Money is of no concern, we just want her in a proper place while we are gone. So if anyone can suggest anything it would be appreciated.

and now a photo of Lily to warm your hearts and help me out lol

btw: she's a 11lbs puggle if it matters as I know some boarding places won't accept certain sized dogs etc.

I am pretty sure dogarritaville would take him. They are in Weymouth though. Your Vet may bord him as well.

You may be better off hiring a pet sitting service

Another option is to call area rescue organizations and offer a donation if one of their foster homes can board him for you. That way you're assured of having him watched by dog lovers who would welcome him into their home instead of having him spend his time isolated in a kennel. 4 months is a critical stage in canine socialization.

where she is so young, it would probably be a lot less stressful for lily to stay in her own house than to go to a boarding kennel.

you can ask your vet if there is anyone that they would recommend. good pet sitting services will provide you with references - just make sure you check them out.

    ps she is adorable

I know a girl that lives in Melrose that would probably pay you to let her take care of that cute little thing.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the suggestion guys (and gal).

Never even crossed my mind that having a pet sitter would be an option. I guess I'll be making some phone calls. Thanks again NESRians

Check out Palmer Kennels in Acton, MA. I know the owners and the Kennel is very clean and they really are dog lovers so good care will not be an issue.

I don't know if I would trust a dog sitting service in my house these days. Typically I either have a friend or family member stay with the dog while I am gone or the dogs go stay at somebody else's house who I trust.

The rescue idea is a great idea but most rescues have trouble finding enough foster homes so that may be tough. I would offer to do it myself but I have 2 dogs I will be fostering already so it would be tough.

See if you have any friends with dogs that will take him... every time we go away we drop our puppy with our friends - both dogs just play for a week straight and have a great time.

Of course...they might steal all of your shit while you're away...but your dog should be good.

Let her stay home with a sitter. If the human is unknown to her set up a couple visits in advance with you there. My wife and I adopted a 4 y/o cocker spaniel 2 weeks ago and she is getting over a pretty severe case of separation anxiety. letting her stay home will help her avoid that.

thanks again everyone for the advice.

We're going to end up having the people who sold us the puppy watch over her. Already took the pup back to her parents and siblings so she is still well aquainted with them so it'll lessen the separation anxiety (i hope, for her anyways).
