Ok so I'm familiar with hiking however I've never done a winter hike.
Long Story short I'm seeing a girl who completely out of my league who wants to go on a winter Hike. Shes also and experienced hiker.
So are there any not to ridiculous winter hikes up around the Kangamangus. Looking for something not a wimpy as monadnock but not as crazy as MT. Washington
Dont need a lecture on winter hiking just some good trails lol

are you looking to camp at lafayette and just use your campsite as a central site? or hike 5 miles camp hike another 5 then camp etc?
check out amc website for suggestions and the amc white mountain guidebook and trail maps well worth it.
if you want my list for winterhiking gear let me know and I can post...
hmmmm......
Day Hikes:
Boulder Loop Trail is right near Covered Bridge Campground on the Kanc. Given it's gentle slope it would make for some nice snow-shoeing. Picking up a set of crampons is recommended for those icy spots you could encounter. Diana's Baths trail head is on River Road in North Conway. It's very popular so the trails would be more packed down. Post-holing in waist deep powder takes the enjoyment out of the experience of winter hiking.
Easy Overnighters:
Mountain Pond Loop (Trailhead off of Town Hall Road in Intervale)
Sawyer Pond Trail (Trailhead on Kanc)

And like black said, definately pick up AMC's White Mountain Guide.

I get offended by people who cry they've been offended
Book a night at an AMC hut. Hiking in the winter is much more difficult and if you can cut down on weight (tent/cooking gear/etc) for your first few it may make it more enjoyable.
Do Lonesome Lake, Zealand Falls and my favorite - Carter Notch. Once those are done, then add the extra weight back in and go play.

I work and hike in Lincoln and winter is the best time to hike - less crowded and quiet. Look up Greely Pond from lincoln side and if that's too short for ya (couple hours) come a little closer to town and do East Pond Trail. They are located on the Kanc about 5miles outside of town. Shortly after you past Otter Rocks on the right. Good hikes, fairly easy with decent views. Good bang for the buck.
Bras cause cancer.
ummm...shouldn't you probably tell her that you're not well versed in this kind of thing?? She might like teaching you something you don't know. . . plus she should probably know if there's a chance your going to die on the trip lol.
I ride a custom fighter!
I did the Champney Falls trail up Mt. Chocorua in 2006 over spring break, still a ton of snow and ice up there at the time. It took us the day, we made it to the summit, wasn't to smart without crampons etc.
But the views were great and it was an experience that I want to do again, could be a two day trip, or you could arrive one night, camp out, then hike the next day. Its a 8 point something mile hike round trip.
I'm envious of you!
