Good point. NHL players need to realize that the teams simply CAN'T pay 'em what they THINK they should get. I'm not saying they don't work harder, I'm just saying the money ain't there. If the owners could pay these dudes and still make money, do you really think there'd be a lockout?

that wasnt my point. I understand the economics of sports. I was simply stating that NHL players dont make what most of the overpaid athletes make. They still make a ton of money, but not close to baseball or basketball or football. Regardless of supply and demand.

And while I agree with most of your point stoner I do believe that some owners would still lock out. Look at the Bruins, they are one of the richest organizations in hockey, but they wont spend. Appearantly they were one of the toughest negotiators.

The players offered a 24% salary rollback for all existing contracts and accepted a salary cap of 49 million. the owners insisted on 42.5 million and that is where the major problem was. These players were willing to accept LESS money to play hockey, they werent being greedy in this instant. Im not sure many people understand that, it seems like many people just take the "players make too much money" argument.

In an argument between billionaire owners and millionare players I have a hard time picking sides usually.
