People's hearts do not like me. Only 3 calls but all severe cardiac problems including one full cardiac arrest. I was riding on an ALS truck so I guess it's to be expected. Good side, I got to do CPR and know that I have great rhythm and depth on my compressions and received compliments from the medics and the ER team. Wished we got another outcome but that comes with the territory.
So it's homework time and off for a very needed/deserved beer.![]()

Not in the least. It's kind of annoying but at least I'm doing this for the FD.
Edit: scratch annoying, bullshit. Yup bullshit. They deal with a lot of crap and are actually helping their community in a positive manner. Not fair IMO.

I'm on in Peabody, well on the reserve list. Waiting for a slot. That reminds me. Vote no on 1!

Good job obsolete! I hear ya on salaries and such, but I hope they KNOW that victims that are helped do appreciate all the efforts to keep people safe and hopefully.....alive. It's great what they do for communities.![]()

All in all it was a great experience to practice what I've learned so far in a semi-controlled environment with professionals watching. I've always been trained in CPR but I'm glad my first time was done this way. I was actually surprised how calm and not hectic it was during the attempted resuscitation of the full cardiac arrest patient. Everything was expedited but not rushed.
Thanks for the well wishes, choosing to do this was like the choice to join the military. It wasn't done for fame and recognition but to serve my community, but a thanks and atta-boy are always welcomed gestures. :-)

I was an EMT looking at paramedic school, but the numbers didn't make sense. I was making more teaching MSF. A lot more...
The work is very rewarding though, and the experiences are often very profound. It also gave me a real respect for police and firemen.
Good for you Alex! I went to EMT school for a semester, and realized I couldn't handle it. I've got a lot of respect for those who are in the field though. Best of luck to you!
