Some cultures are different than ours, that is the way of the world.

I didn't watch the vid and I certainly do not condone cruelty but do you know what they do to the cows and piggys and chickens, (not to mention baby cows) to get that food on the tables of Americans?

Don't get me started on the poor fruits and veggies, they have MEXICANS picking those!!!!

I had a vietnamese science teacher tell us stories about his mother cooking dogs when he was a child and how normal it was.

The class was shocked to hear the story and the teacher was shocked to hear the reaction since it was so common to him. The kicker was him saying he preferred long hair dogs than short.. yuck.

It is truley sad to see this when we have such a great bond with dog and cats but I have to agree with you all on the cow vs dog aspect and the culture diffrences...

I have been to China

Their restaurants look like Zoos or Aquariums.

Fish, snakes, and even live crocodiles are all there for the choosing.

The best delicacy offered were deep fried song birds.... complete

In years passed they were starving and anything was fair game. You can go in the mountains and see terraces for ancient farms to the very top of pointed hill.

Many modern Chinese do like dogs as pets and they are very curious about mine. There are very few dogs in China and I think they are band from cities as opposed to pooper scooper laws.

Believe me dog sh*t on the streets would be the least of their problems.

It will take them another 50 years to join the rest of the world in some of these attitudes. Excuse me they will run the world and we will have to eat our dogs... yeh thats right.

Shit, that was truely disturbing. Were they killing these dogs for the meat or the fur? I didnt see them eating anything just showed fur collared jacket. Its one thing to kill them for the meat if people are really starving in those countries, but its another thing just to make some money off some rich bitch who just wants to keep her fake tities warm. And why would they kill them like that? Thats fu-ked up.

raising dogs or cats for food is no different than raising cattle or swine fo food, just because dogs and cats make good pets is no reason to give them a different status, I know lotsa peeps that have pigs as pets, they are a lot more intellegent than any dog or cat

i can accept the fact that some countries eat dogs and cats. while i find it gross.. it is what it is. but why does it have to be so cruel and painful? isnt the an easier and more "humane" way of doing it? even shooting the dog in the head would be better than that video

Totally agree, i think thats what disturbed me the most. I couldnt imagine being near by hearing this dog yelpping in pain. Even seeing that dog hanging in the open like that,... if i was walking by and saw that i would have went in there and fu-kin strangled those assholes. I understand people in other countries and cultures have to do some things we wont understand to survive but have the deceny to do it humanely.

Bullets cost money. A knife only costs once. Plus if you are gona eat it then cutting a vein gets a lot of the blood out. While I don't condone it, it is what it is. We kill cows in much the same way. A large electric charge is placed to the cows head to stun it. Then it is lifted by it's rear leg (which breaks) while it's still alive and it's neck is cut open. This way the heart helps to pump the blood out of the body.

True,... but they could have broken his neck. Free. Plus we still dont know if it was food or for the sale of the fur. Other wise why would they show the jacket, or i geuss it could be for both. Who knows all i know is im not watching that thing again.

I heard that cows were killed using a hammer...one hit to the forehead or something, and they drop dead...but sometimes....it takes more than one hit to kill them...the suffering they endure must be horrible.

I'm sure electric shock is no better.

Altho I do like meat, I wouldn't be that miserable if let's say, tomorrow, meat was banned and I couldn't eat a good steak anymore.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of grocery meat anyway, altho this is what I have to eat since I'm not a hunter, I prefer game meat (deer, caribou, quail, etc.) I haven't had a good game steak in YEARS.

ok, a few things....

(1) There is no doubt that pigs are far more intelligent and 'family orientated' than dogs or cats. Yet, we have no qualms with eating them in the US. Why? I'd posit one reason alone: they are not "cute" the way cats and dogs are. In this country, if something is too ugly (rats, frogs, snakes), or too cute (dogs, cats, rabbit), people just wont eat it.

(2) MOST of the dogs and cats eaten in Asia are breed for eating, much like cows, pigs, and chicken is the US. Again, for the MOST part, they are not eating Lassie the family dog.

(3) Things done to animals in US growth-farms and slaughter shacks are just as brutal as some of the shit done in Asia. Moreover, people in Asia are often much more aware of how their meat is actually slaughtered than people in the US who have never even seen a slaughter house.

I am not saying dog-meat is a good thing, just that such a critical eye on asian cultrue is often blind to it's backyard.
