Anyone dug or repointed a well before? The house I bought last summer has a full irrigation system installed that runs off a groundwater well and pump. Mine however appears to be clogged pretty well at the bottom. I hooked it up a few weeks ago and was getting maybe a gallon out at a time, then it would stop the pump would run dry. I've been told that neighbors in the area have them between 20 and 30' deep.
I'm a moderatley capable DIY'er so I'd rather do this myself both to save money and gain an understanding of the system. I got one quote of about 750$ to dig it up and replace it, but I've heard it can be done cheaper with some sweat equity and maybe a few rented items.
I guess it wouldn't cost much to rent a shovel and start digging.
Can you pressurize the piping to reverse flush it?

I would jump on that $750 if they can guarantee no surprises
I see it costing at least half that to rent a machine for a half day, you may need stone delivered, I'm not sure what the quote includes to repair the well, doing it yourself may take longer, add more machine rental time, it could end up costing more DIY

I forgot to ask, what type of well ? tile well?, driven point?, drilled gravel pack?
