So it's Saturday night and I'm bored, and I was listening to Opeth's newest CD Watershed, and I was curious if anybody here is a fan? I'm a newer fan, so I've only had Watershed in heavy rotation, though I have heard some older stuff from them.
I'm not a fan of the guttural screaming (thankfully it's pretty rare), but the musicianship is incredible so I can look past it. I keep meaning to get more discs from them, but I'm lazy and stupid, so I keep forgetting.
Anybody else a fan? I know there are some metal heads here, show yourselves! \m/ \m/![]()

I have heard some of their music and liked it.
Skiierx, is a fan. He is the one that introduced me to them on the car ride to Deals Gap a few years ago.

I'm going to the Opeth headlining show at the House Of Blues on May 2nd.
I have most all of their albums.
Damnation: Mellow, REAL mellow. Solid all the way through. That's what got me into Opeth.
Ghost Reveries: Heavy, but intricate. Really had no issue getting into some interesting vocal tonalities.
Blackwater Park: This is Opeth in a CD. Heavy, melodic, uncompromising metal. Musical though, not too rough like some of their earlier stuff.

I listened to some of Damnation, so far so good. I'm listening to Ghost Reveries now, another solid disc. Blackwater Park is next on the list.
I think they are coming out to Boise sometime in May, so I'm hoping I have a chance to go. Opeth and In Flames are the two bands that are at the top of my must see list right now.
Can't say I'm a huge fan but definitely good stuff.
I saw them last year on the progressive tour with Dream Theater and Between The Buried and Me <--2 of my favorites
holy crap what an awesome show.

I saw Dream Theater with Redemption up in Montreal and other than the show being shorter than I would like (with DT I would probably complain a 3 hour show is too short though). If you like DT and have never heard of Redemption, check out "The Origins of Ruin" or "The Fullness of Time", both pretty solid discs. Also, Fates Warning's cd "FWX" is pretty good. They have the same lead singer, so if you like one you'd probably like the other.
