Opinions on furniture lifting straps

So I have to move a 42" glass tube TV from 2nd floor to 1st floor. I tried the "get a few guys to lift it up" but it's awkward to get a grip on it.

I have used the ones that go one your wrist. Worked great for moving akward things. But, being as cheap as I am. I usually just use a couple wide ratchet straps and make a lift.

My neighbor and I just moved my 42" Mitsubishi tube TV from the basement to the second floor - good god I thought I my head was going to explode it was so heavy. We had these straps but no matter how we worked with them they found a way to slide off the edges, which are mostly rounded. They work awesome for things with square edges like appliances, but not at all with the TV. When we move from this house we're either going to abandon this TV or toss it off the balcony.

I used those shoulder straps when I was delivering appliances. Only way to go. It takes a little getting used to. Its awkward to carry something without actually carrying it.

I would recommend not getting that hand truck. if you're doing stairs you want one with stair climbers like this one has. not sure how well this hand truck as a whole would do with a tv though. but from experience you want these stair climbers and don't go with pnuematic wheels, they bounce on stairs. http://www.wrhardware.com/hand-truck...k-clone-2.html

Personally I dont like using the straps. When I have to move big TVs at work I wear gloves because some sets have sharp edges on the bottom where you grip. Just remember what everyone says lift with ya legs and with the tube TVs make sure to balance the weight of the tube because they are heavy in the front screen area.

Go to gnc and get some protien powder, put on a few pounds of muscle,then go shake down a few people for there wallets .
When you get enough cash buy a lighter tv

I don't think I can really use a hand truck without damaging the stairs since they are made of wood and feature a custom painted nautical theme. If it was carpet I'd probably try it.

I'm thinking of trying the straps with an additional person on each side helping to balance the TV on the center strap.

They all work. Get the cheap one, and a set of mechanics gloves. Done.
