    The Chronicles of Narnia

Yesterday I was at Barnes and Noble, and saw something very interesting, a collection of books "The Chronicles of Narnia", and the movie is coming out in theaters on December 9th, it looks like a mix between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, I CANNOT wait to see this movie! It's gonna be a night out for sure with Man God and our daughters!

You can watch the trailer here:
    http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/...ink=production

Just bought the first two books of the serie, in colors, hope my daughter will love them..

    The Chronicles of Narnia

Wow... I remember that book as a little kid more than 15 years ago.

*quick google search (damnit, wtf was the name of the original book....)

"The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"

Man... talk about a blast from the past. And from what you're sayin, the movie's comin out on my Birthday.... weird.

    The Chronicles of Narnia

The first book is "The Magician's Nephew", I bought this one, and the one you just mentioned, both with illustrations in colors. They have different formats/sizes of the books, some are hard cover, some are paperback, some are sold individually and others in boxed sets. One is also a big heavy book with the full story of The Chronicles. I cannot wait to see the movie, never heard of those books before yesterday, and when I watched the trailer online this morning, I was psyched! I absolutly loved The Lords of the Rings, and this movie seem to be a blend of both LOTR and Harry Potter. I surely hope that this movie is the first of a few more to follow if it's gonna be as good as I think it will be.

    The Chronicles of Narnia

Why would he suggest to read the books in a different order than what the author wrote them? The magician's nephew is the first one of the serie, yet he placed it before the last book "the battle" ?

    The Chronicles of Narnia

They said that because it was the first one written. The books were not written in chronological order of the story line. The person that wrote the website suggested you read them in the order in which they were written first, THEN in chronological order.

    The Chronicles of Narnia

So does that mean that if we read The Magician's Nephew first (book no.1), the story won't make sense?

    The Chronicles of Narnia

well if it is required in 4th grade to read it, it's a good thing I got it! My daughter is in 4th grade.. I did read the intro, it says that the Magician's Nephew was not the first book to be written, but it is the first to read for the story to begin. I started it tonight....

    The Chronicles of Narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia are religious fables, we read them as part of our church school class as children. The lion is a jesus-character, much like Owen Meany in A Prayer For Owen Meany (who has the added distinction of being probably the only Jesus-character ever described as having a huge penis).

Not that there's anything wrong with that, both the Narnia books and APFOM are good writing on their own merits. But a dose of knowledge of christian history goes a long way towards helping to understand the author's motivations in some of the story lines.

    The Chronicles of Narnia

I think I know what he's talking about. Altho I have no religion knowledge persay, since I never really practiced my religion beside baptisms, weddings, etc. I read on another forum that they cut some part of the story in the books containing religious connotations for the sake of not aggravating some viewers when the movie will come out...which to this the person said realy sucks, because ...well shit, let me copy and paste it, since I have no clue...

"Something that I hate though... they were talking about removing parts of the movie because they were appearing too "Christian" The part with Aslan on the table... It's a pivitol part of the story... how could they take that out?? "

Have you ever seen the movie Pulp Fiction? It bounces around in the timeline, it's not linear. Neither are the books. It's also like the whole Starwars series, Episode One wasn't the first one to be released.

You can start wherever you want for all I care, but like that website said, it's suggested that you read them in the order in which they were written, L W & the W being the first.

    The Chronicles of Narnia

yeah, and I dislike when they do that, well I didn't mind Star Wars doing it so much, because they don't really bounce in the timeline in ONE movie, but I hate it when they do that in one movie alone. I like chronoligical events, less confusing, for me anyway.

    The author

C.S. Lewis. I remember those books from a long time ago. There a trip. The christian influence you guys were talkin about would definitly reflect the beliefs of the author.

    The Chronicles of Narnia

I wanna see Saw 2. Cause Saw absolutely kicked serious ass. Especially the last few minutes!!!!!!

My exact reaction to the ending:

    "Holy shit...

HOLY SHIT!!!! OH MAN! HOLY SHIT!!!!"

I bet if the Lion and Witch got in a fight with Saw, Saw would win in a majorly gruesom way.
