    Credit Report websites

How does everyone check their credit report?

I used Free Credit Report.com once but they charge every month if you don't call and cancel and they get sales man on you.

Any other good options out there?

bank of america has a decent one. they get you like 5-10 a month i think, but it's been good when i've used it. one nice aspect, they have a bunch of tools with it that will show you the "most likely" effect and action from you may have on your credit. they also notify you if anything changes on your report. actually they tell you if nothing changes as well.

p.s. i hate, hate, hate bank of america but this has been a pretty decent service when i've used it.

You can get the credit reports for free once a year from all three credit agencies. Just have to submit a request in writing.

Or at least that's how it was a couple years back.

You are given the chance to get them free once per year at www.annualcreditreport.com

FYI that is only official site to get your report free once a year. anyone else that offers you a free report is going to end up charging you in the future.

freecreditreport.com is one of the biggest scams out there. just google it.

I'd rather do it online and have the files as opposed to a letter.

The BoA one sounds good but I am leary of giving that bank any $. I hate them!

yup, i'm in the same boat. i hate supporting their quest for world domination. but their tool is very good and very user friendly. if you do some digging, there are probably other banks that use the same technology/interface but i've been too lazy.

They do shady shit to make money on accounts that I very much disagree with. I may look into that, but I don't know if I have enough time or know how to research that.

Here is how to get your credit report for free.

I like having monitoring, which is usually the catch for a free report or score. I have all 3 bureaus monitored.

If you want it free for real you have to go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/. They try to upsell you but you can navigate through and get it free.

Where's that at? You mean they charge 5-10 bucks a month?

I have absolutely NO CLUE what my credit scores are.

    Re: Credit Report websites

I use http://www.myfico.com/Default.aspx where you can get a true FICO score from Transunion and Equifax. Most of the other sites either offer a "fake" score or no score.

If you don't care about checking your credit score, http://www.creditchecktotal.com/ is a pretty good deal. I called to cancel after my free trial and they offered me $9.95 for 6 months. I did that so I could keep track of my credit back when we were refinancing for a better rate.

Creditchecktotal is an Experian product, but it gives you all three reports. I really dislike Experian for not allowing consumers to see their FICO score...anywhere (fuggin' bastards) but creditchecktotal is a good product.
