Hi, all - I may be purchasing a truck this week and my question is if I want the windows tinted, would it be better to go through the dealer (Toyota) or an aftermarket shop?I'm guessing it would be more expensive to go thru the dealer but might be worth it. Would appreciate your thoughts, and if aftermarket is the way to go, hook me up with your recommendations!! (I'm in southern NH.)
TIA!!![]()

I always vote for the aftermarket small business guy because they'll try harder.
Of course I would need to see their work first.
Def go aftermarket!
i had mine done in summer of 06 and theyre still on the car lookin good and its a lot cheaper than dealers

At the time BigShel still owned his shop, I went there for my car and they did an AWSOME job. It's been a few years now, there is no signs whatsoever of peeling or any bubbles, not even tiny ones. It looks great, it's darker than what's legal in MA but whatever, never got pulled over and never failed an inspection.![]()

most dealers will just bring it to a tint shop they do business with.

Big Shel will send you to tint king in Billerica. I gave them a call when I was looking and they were expensive. I don't doubt that they do very high quality work, the price tag just wasn't justified to me. I believe it was $290 for 2 side windows and a rear, none of those small windows behind the side windows. I ended up going to auto tuners in Malden, I paid $120. It sucked, I had to go back and get it redone, and it still sucked. Best of luck finding a place that charges you a fair price and does a decent job.
i'm not sure where your from but i had mine done at ziebart on RT 9 in shrewsbury right outside worcester
Great work and it was reasonable. my 4 doors and rear window ran me 170 is i can remember correctly

that above obviously spells out, if you want it done right go to tint king...if you want to chance getting a better price and more time/shitty job spent on the car then go elsewhere
I was going to take my truck to tint king to get front windows done, they told me 100 for the 2 fronts versus a few other places that said 80.

Tint King... most of our PD cruisers in town were done there I believe, mine and my cousins cars were done there. My VW is notorious for being a difficult tint, they did it perfectly wasting a lot of tint in the process. Go to Tint King once, or go to the others twice.

I'll also throw out tint king, you're gonna tint your fronts in NH??
chances are, the dealer will sub the job out to a local tint guy. imo find a reputable tint guy, that's been in business a while and uses quality materials (madico, llumar, etc). what good is a lifetime guarantee if the shop's no longer in business?
a truck should be pretty easy, but a good shop will do the rear window in one piece and tint the side windows all the way to the edges.

Consider this another one for Tint King...go there once or the others twice - so very true![]()
