Found it hoping around outside my house.
I remember seeing baby birds when I was younger and the only way they ate was their mother/father w/e fed them.
Do I just put pieces of bread and water in there ??
Edit: nevermind

What you do is put some olive oil and some garlic in there then put it in the fridge for about 7-10 hrs to let the flavors soak in. From there you wanna probably do a bread batter and dip both sides.
Fry on med-high for about 5 minutes, turn once and fry for 5 more minutes.
Garnish and a light spritz of lemon.
Serve with a white or blush.
That is a full grown Junco.....They migrate southward from canada and points north this time of the season and stay till spring. Then they head north again...cold weather bird...
It eats regular bird seed............its a ground feeder.

I think what Solgirl is saying is, just let the damn bird go.
Do like Ace Ventura and feed it like it's mother did, chew up a worm and let it eat out of you mouth.
For realz though, a quick search came up with THIS. Sounds about right. If you don't want to bring it somewhere to find out the right food, I'm sure you can find online the correct food for that type of bird(of coarse after finding out what kind of bird it is).
Hate to say it but it will probly be dead in the morning, it's all stressed out rite now and they don't deal well with stress. If it does make it through the nite, your best bet is to put it back where you found it and let fate do the rest. It's not going to be a pet if that's what your hopeing. And don't let any tree huggers see it in your posession, pretty sure it's illegal to hold wild animals without a licence.
I'm only saying this because I recently tried helping a cool looking bird get through a night after it was stumbling around the yard. It could barely fly. It was more of a glidder I guess. Anyways, it wasn't long before it was belly up. goodluck!
SPEED SAFELY!
It will die. Seek professional help. There are wildlife rehabilitators that will take the bird for ya... Good luck![]()
If you ain't first......you're last!
We were on the Cape last summer and one of the kids found a baby robin. I put it in a tree sort of out of the way but exposed enough so the mother could find it if that's the way things were going to go. It peep-peep-peeped and I walked around the house to get my flyrods from the trunk when the peeping stopped. I headed back towards the tree when a large hawk came peeling around the shed and missed my head by a couple of feet. In its talons was the baby robin. I felt pretty bad but that's nature. That robin didn't have a chance once it fell from its nest.
I would try it with some chocolate or vanilla frosting since he's already in the cake container.
i think you should just take it to a shelter and let the pro's handle it
dig a hole.
wait a couple hours.
drop the bird in the hole.
cover with dirt.
done
what was it hoping for? It was probably hoping you had left it alone. If it was injured it would have died anyway but sometimes migratory birds just get exhausted and need an hour or two to recuperate.
Hate to tell you but the minute you touch a small bird in the wild, the chances are you scared it enough that it will never survive.
This is the funniest thread I've read in a while.
Seriously though, what did you end up doing?
is it dead yet?
I found a small dove last summer, fell out of it's nest, which was pretty high up. I built it a new nest and hung it lower in the tree, and inserted said fledgling. He grew up just fine and believe it nested in that tree this year. Call me racist, but they all look alike, I couldn't tell for sure.
