Time for some stupid snowmobile questions.
- Some friends and I rented a place in Lincoln for the last weekend in March. One of them mentioned "we should rent some snowmobiles".
- Is this usually too late for snowmobiling? I have no idea what the snowmobiling season is...
*if not too late in the season*...
- Any recommendations for outfits up there? Will they rent to people with no snowmobile experience? A few of us ride bikes but none of us have ever been on a sled. Anything to watch out for, etc..
TIA
no bikes currently
That area gets dumped on with snow, usually, so it very well may still be riding season there. But then again, we have pics of us out riding in central VT (RT 17 even) on April 2nd of last year. I think this year with the given snow amounts might be a bit different.
As for sled rentals, well, I wouldn't turn you loose on an expensive machine with no experience and say "have fun kids!"... but there are guided tours. They might make you go that route, I don't know. But I can tell ya, inexperienced riders on equipment they are not familiar with, by themselves can go bad, real fast.
I googled "snowmobile rentals lincoln nh" and found a few places like http://www.nhsledventures.com/
search for that, also the town of woodstock, nh.
Rental places would definitely take you guys on a tour, supply the gear...etc. Probably a bit safer for your first time too
Edit...you might also get a deal with a group, and being late season. Might want to ask about that if you call / email some places.

Just dress as if you were going skiing or snowboarding.

I'm too lazy to figure out how far these are from where you're staying, but this is what I started to dig up:

I can't recommend a good one but I can tell you one to steer WAY clear of. One Wheel Drive on Rte. 16 in Albany, NH.
Do yourself a favor and thoroughly inspect the sled before you saddle up, as they charge you for any damages even if there was NO WAY you could've caused it.
I get offended by people who cry they've been offended
