Storage Facilities...

Does anyone use these? Cheryl & I are gonna be renting one in a lame attempt to make our house look less cluttered to potential buyers. We already know what size we're gonna be getting, but I have a couple general questions...

Should we be putting stuff up on pallets? I have no idea how water tight those silly overhead doors are...

Has anyone ever had a problem with theft?

I have heard about those , they are suppose to be water tight as they say , but I dunno , if your in a area that floods alot , then definitely put em on pallets. Dunno about the theft tho , but my guess is that it might not be too safe because who guards the place at night ? I doubt people will steal from there but I havn't heard of anyone stealing from those places , but the place you rent it from offers insurance for the stuff you store in it don't they ?

I'm really more concerned about NOT getting our stuff all shitty from water damage...

You can always rent a container , check my web site for specs www.contrader.net They come in 20' and 40' sizes. If you want I can sell you one reasonable, if you want to keep it in your next yard, very secure, dry,

Thanks, John. But that route isn't really an option. We're trying to sell the house, so a container really wouldn't be the way we wanna go...

You betcha. I just helped move my in-laws stuff from one storage facility to another because of a leaky roof. Even though their new facility doens't have any problems yet, anything they don't want getting moist is sitting on pallets.
