Looks great
New truck time. Was not expecting this soon, but I’m on my 3rd weird electrical issue with my ‘21 Colorado and I’m done with it.
On the list:
Canyon AT4X
Ranger Raptor
Tacoma TRD Pro
I’m also considering going back to a 1/2 ton as we may be going to a larger boat next year….kinda need to make up my mind on that I suppose. I’d rather not spend $80k on a new Raptor, so maybe a Sierra AT4 is a better option.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Tacoma TRD pro is mad overpriced. Full size Raptor isnt great at towing so I assume the Ranger Raptor isnt either. I guess that leaves the Sierra AT4?
Towing capacities:
Canyon AT4X 6,000
Ranger Raptor 5,500
Tacoma TRD Pro 6,400
I’ll say that I won’t be towing for distance very much. The boat landing is about a 15 minute drive on back roads…once or twice a year we pull the boat up to the Lakes Region. Really need to look into weights of perspective vessels….we’ll be picking up a 20-23 ft Center Console with a single. Heavier than what I have but not triple axle territory. I would definitely prefer to stay in a mid-sized if possible.
Agree the TRD Pro is expensive.

I mean I towed with the raptor and it did it, it is just really soft suspension. Soft suspension is great for soaking up whoops at speed, but not for towing. But yeah, 15 minutes isnt far.
I miss my raptor a ton. Compared to the superduty it was cheaper, better looking, faster, handled better.... It really is an amazing truck
edit: TRD PRO STARTS @ $66k?!?!

AT4 with the 3.0. Best of all worlds unless you short trip it.
The redone mid size GM trucks look great but have their own issues. Disappointing mpg as well.

I'm trying not to be back in the truck market but towing with my FWD econobox on snow tires is starting to get old. I noticed recently that you can get the AWD Maverick with a 4k tow package. Kinda impressive.
1500 lbs payload, which is good 'nuf fer me.

6.2 is also an option for the AT4 but I hear premium fuel only?
3.0 would be really nice, I typically drive around a closed to 1/4 throttle anyway.
Also, company pays for all of my fuel, so I guess it doesn’t really matter in the end.

I feel like practically every car & truck on the market these days "prefers premium" according to the manufacturer but will happily take whatever grade you put in there and still self-adjust accordingly.

In anticipating of moving to a not-tiny toy hauler, I traded my Tacoma for a '24 Silverado 2500 on Friday. The dealer was discounting this one enough that it was cheaper than ordering through a volume discount dealer or GM Supplier Discount pricing, so I ended up with a lot I wouldn't have ordered otherwise - diesel, both Z71 packages, and some other widgets...while also not having some widgets I would have preferred. But holy cow does this thing feel like it could pull a ton of weight!

I've been wanting to downsize and upgrade my full size pickup for a while. Fell down the "self upsell" up-spec rabbit hole and had to have the Raptor variant of the new Ranger after much internet fawning and research. A couple months of searching and lots of convincing dealers to come down from their markup later...
A few thoughts: is a truck with a 5'1" bed a real truck as some ask? I only hitch haul motos now, realized all I store in the bed any more is gas cans, tires, and camp gear. The ability to park in our ever shrinking cities and absolutely rip around nearly anywhere is a fair trade off to me. Super excited after a couple joyrides.
Coming from a '16 Midnight Edition Silverado w/ the 5.3L Z71 and trailering package. I loved that truck & what I needed/wanted it for. But this thing is on another level.
Badass! What motor?
I believe The Ranger Raptor only comes with the 3.0L V6 Ecoboost, same or similar as Bronco Raptor.
Yep, only option in the baby Raptor is the 3.0L twin turbo V6 rated for 405 ponies which you also cannot get in any other Ranger trim, though I was tempted to wait for a more standard trim with the 2.7L coming out late summer and save some bucks...
First tank is averaging 18 mpg and I have not been light footed. I was getting 12ish the last several tanks in the Silverado.
wifes st has the 3.0 eb, its a beast in a light vehicle
My MKZ has the 3.0 and she scoots. No problems with it either so far.
