so now that it's been out for a while, has anyone (besides me) held back from updating?
I'm still on iOS 5.1.1 and starting to debate on upgrading my 4s.
pro's - quicker to turn on/off BlueTooth & I like the updated Facebook integration with contacts
con's - lose Google maps & better YouTube app.
has the Apple Maps gotten better since iOS6 first came out?
I think people have just gotten used to the maps. It works the same (with added voice prompts), it just looks a little different.

I personally haven't had any issues w/ Maps lately. I also have started using Waze for nav, works well.

I have had no issues with maps. I miss the YouTube app but overall I'm happy with the upgrade
The only thing I don't like is searching google for something in the browser and being able to click get direction to bring me to the map app. It's a disconnect since apple maps.

I upgraded from my 4 to the 5, so I got iOS6 by default.
For all the bad press Apple Maps has gotten, I actually find it more useful than I ever did the integrated Google Maps. It hasn't led me to the middle of a desert or forest, and the turn by turn directions work well, and seem to recalculate faster than my Garmin when I decide to ignore the directions.
As for Youtube, I don't watch videos on my phone often, but I've found the downloadable YouTube app to work just fine when I do, certainly no better or worse than the old native app.

Smutty's picture haunts me in the deepest of my slumbers.
I just remembered I still have my iPhone 4 collecting dust, which has been upgraded to iOS 6.0.1
I just did an iCloud backup in my 4s, put it in airplane mode, swapped the SIM card with my 4, then did a restore on my 4 with the 4s backup.
Now I can get a good trial to see if I should upgrade my 4s to iOS 6.0.1
Now all you can continue looking deeply into my avatars eyes.
Maps worked like shit on my 4. Once I went to the 5, they work perfectly fine and it's getting better the more people use it.
My problems with the maps app is if I click a link online it opens it on maps.google.com or when I search for something like a local pizza place, it finds Jerry's Pizza in ohio. Google maps always used to go based on location and pick the closest one which was a great way to get the phone number and call ahead and then send it straight to your contacts.
i wish i never upgraded on my iphone 4 cause there was nothing really great about the upgrade for the iphone 4...i would go back if i could just to have google maps again...i had one issue using apple maps which i can't seem to remember but i just haven't used it since...i use my car gps that hasn't been upgraded since i bought it (still drive over water where the providence iway is now) and i trust that more than apple maps or waze...i have waze but it has sent me some screwy directions getting off exits only to get right back onto the highway so i don't trust it...if i have to get directions and i don't have my car gps i have the shortcut for google maps in safari

The Apple Map app is great when you already know where you want to go or the name of what you want to find. What I find it lacking is when you search in general categories (eg "restaurants"). I just doesn't give you a good list of what's around you. Otherwise, I've found it to work flawlessly.
I have an iPhone 5 btw, so OS6
announced this AM
google maps is back! (for iOS6)

But will it have the nice large next turn sign at the top, the way Apple maps does? I having to stare hard at the screen to see the next direction. That is one of this things I like. It's more like a Garmin GPS than Google maps was.
