So I decide to get an update of firefox and hope to get rid of the extra Yahoo and google toolbars etc.

    Download of Firefox3 proceeds ok

Now I can't drag and drop the web address onto my desktop.
click on the web address and drag to desktop. Now it makes an explorer e icon not the old fox but still does not load and run anything

the old ones don't work either and even new ones don't work

message about folder options, control panels, and this not associated with a program.

UPDATE REINSTALLED FIREFOX 2 ---NO HELP

REINSTALLED EXPLORER 7 IT WORKS THEN FIREFOX STARTED AS WELL

I will always be amazed like these things are never real world tried

    any ideas ?

That's why I commented on the above.

If it were available to the public in full release, you'd see it on Firefox - Rediscover the Web.

Rich I'm not sure why you'd want to drag lots of URLs to the desktop but whatever.

Can you go into Explorer and check the filename association for the extension ".URL"? It's probably set to IE... probably a bug in the installer/uninstaller.

Mine is set to IE and yet when I drag out of Firefox it works correctly though.

Open an Explorer window. (Like "My Computer", not Internet Explorer)

Select Tools -> Folder Options from the menu

Select File Types from the Tabs

    Scroll down to URL

Firefox is a buggy POS. I use it most of the time at work and it crashes almost every day 2-3x.

weird that it crashes.... I use it as my web browser and haven't had an issue at all.... even with way too many add-ons
