I'm trying to track down a parking brake cable for my RV. Not the easiest thing to do for a THIRTY year old RV. I've scoured (why doesn't that word look right?) the internet and I've called every parts place I possibly could...
Normally, a part like this would be in the $30 range. I found a truck repair place that'll fab one for $120. Obviously, I'd prefer the $30 tag if at all possible...
Here's the skinny: It's a right rear parking brake cable. The motorhome is on a 1973 Chevy dually 1-ton chassis. It's got a 350 (why that's important, I don't know) and it's a 125" wheelbase...
PAHLEEEEZE tell me someone here knows exactly where I can get one or get one made more local for A LOT less than $120...![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I called a friend who does mobile RV repair....
He said, your best bet is to try the guys in the truck parts department over at McLaughlin Chevrolet in Whitman MA 781 447-4401 and have your VIN# or part #
good luck
Cool! Will do!
BTW-Where does your friend work out of?![]()

What is wrong with your current cable?
Best bet is to go to a local junk yard. I bet it was used on other 1 tons trucks during that era. Parking break cables are very generic.

Donno if it makes a difference or not in your application but if it's a 1 ton dually, it should have a Dana 80 in it? One from a newer (80s) chevy 1 ton with the extended wheel base and dual wheels "should" be compatable. Alot of the parts dorks don't know their shit because they rely on what the computers tell them![]()

Wasting time driving around??? A bunch of phone calls on company time is more like it...
The only compatible years are '73 - '75. Few things working against me here. First being that they haven't manu'd parts for these since the mid 80's. Second being it's only a 125" wheel base. And finally, there was never a big market for OEM 1-ton shit like this. Most duallys sold those years were longer wheel base, 3/4 ton...
I've tried junkyards, stealerships, RV service places, and the McAuto Parts-type chains...
