I love pissing people off on E-Bay! I would love to see the expression on the faces of the three people I just swiped the item out from under!

I waited till there was 30 seconds left to bid and put in my bid for the most I would pay for the item and won it. There were three people fighting over it back and forth in the last minute.. Ok time for bed, my job here is done! Tomorrow night another Item I need is up for auction end.. Wish me luck!

Yeah, I love doing the same. Sometimes I'll set my alarm if the auction is getting over after I go to bed. snipe it out from under them and then back to bed

I don't understand why the assholes bid the price up early in the auction. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that 2 such people working against eachother jack the price up quickly for no reason. It amazes me that they have no clue about what they are doing.

I'm a last second sniper as well! I've won many an auction with that technique.

I love these idiots when I am selling things, but my enemy when I am trying to buy exactly for the reason you stated. They jack the price up..

The only way I will put in a bid early is if I know I can not be on-line when the auction is going to end. This way I can put in the highest I am willing to pay and let it ride. If I get it great if not I didn't pay more than I wanted to...

believe it or not, that's how i bought my zx6r...

i talked to the owner a bunch of times, asked a shitload of questions & decided i'd swoop in & bid on it 10 minutes before the auction ended. i think the other people bidding thought no one else was gonna jump in cuz no one bid for DAYS untill i did... not a single other bid was submitted after i made that first bid either.

assholes may be a little strong but you don't bid on something with 6 days left on it. put it on your "watch list" and come in at the last day/hour/ min. unless you can't be online as mike said.

It just seems strange to call someone an asshole for playing the game how it was designed to be played. Now I've heard of the auction snipers called assholes before, which makes a bit more sense, because the whole point of sniping is to try and screw the current high bidder out of a chance to reconsider whether he wants to pay more for the item or not. It'd be like if you went to a live auction and knocked the guy you were bidding against out cold so he couldn't bid against you anymore.

Normal auctions end when no one will offer any more money than the current highest bid. Online auctions end when the time runs out which makes them a whole different animal.

The far vast majority of people buying through E-bay are bargain hunters looking for the best price available. Getting into a bidding war on the first day of the auction accomplishes nothing except for inflating the price of the item. For the people that have to have the item no matter what, a high bid near the end of the auction will save them money since it will not give the incremental bidders enough time to jack the price up.

I stick by the asshole lable. When I say it, it makes me feel good and that's what matters most!

I also like to laugh at people who keep bidding on an item that has long exceeded the "buy it now" price of an identical item in a different auction. There really is no excuse for that.
