My bro got a new long gun a while back and I wanna shoot it in a bad way. Problem is, 17 bux for 20 rounds equals an expensive day for me to get my rocks off. Anyone have a source for ammo?

I haven't ordered .223 from them but I've had good luck with Georgia Arms for other cartridges.

The problem you are going to run into is that you can't have ammo shipped to you in MA.
Check the local gun stores....does the rifle only shoot .223 or is it 5.56/.223?
Last time I was home I could get 30 rounds of American Eagle ammo for like 12$ a box. It's pretty good (not match grade ammo) but if you just wanna shoot some targets that would be a good deal.
Also check www.northeastshooters.com in the classifieds, ususally someone is always selling some bulk .223 or 5.56
I have about 97,000 rounds in a conex about 100 meters from my room....but thats alll mine![]()

Mondo - Not sure what exactly it is.......Mini-14 carbine is what comes to mind but I will have to confirm that. .223 is what I know for certain. Will update once I have the info.
sweet man, those things are def fun to shoot! Not sure what its chambered for off the top of my head either.
If its chambered for 5.56, it can shoot that as well as .223
If its chambered for .223, it can ONLY shoot .223
Just something to look at when buying your ammo!
Have fun!
I've had luck purchasing from these guys... problem is you need to buy in bulk to get the discount.
1000 rounds of .223 for $209 + shipping.

The best advice I’ve ever been given is to not forget where you came from.

They had the best price on ammo for my AK.

Dick's usually has 20 rds for 7.99 on sale. Whatever you do stay away from wolf ammo, unless you really enjoy extensive cleaning.
Wait, did 3 rounds go off at once?

Military 5.56 vrs homeowner .223 cal
First they are a touch different, its in the neck taper,i forget which is which but its not real important, military brass spec is thicker so it doesn't spread in the chamber and jam when most needed.
The home owner chambered .223 has thinner brass, but I guess the average home owner doesn't shot thousands of rounds at a time, and excessive heat is not a problem (heat = expand = jam)
In short you can use (5.56) military spec ammo in a.223 chambered gun.
Heres the kicker, NOT all .223 store bought guns are chambered in.223, so look careful, if it jams, use a caliper to measure neck of shell before and after fireing to see if it grows.
I have a savage.223heavy bbl bolt action, ive used vintage vietnam era military ammo, no problem, also cheap wolf walmart stuff. all with good results,
Old vietnam era military stuff was VERY accuratec
