I spent 2 hours at the Boston Motorcycle Expo / 81 trade show.

Amusing sights

1. Trashy women trying to ignore the long ago Expiration of their sell by date.

2. HA organized crime members strolling around like they were at an Elks club meeting.

3. Wannabes, a lot of them.

4. The Christian Motorcylist Association doing their thing but sort of knowing it's too late.

5. Half a dozen staties picking up some quality detail money indoors on a Sunday when the Pats weren't playing, Double time WIN!

6. Hearing the word, " Haahhleee" at least 25 times.

7. Pondering the strange connection between off brand leather doo-dads and jerky made from an amazing variety of animals.

8. Prospects trying really hard to look really hard when all I could think of was "The Laffing Devils"

9. Mom's and All Star Cycles trying to move used bikes at inflated prices by writing an even more ridiculous price first and the drawing a line through it and writing a lower number.

10. An ever growing plethora of custom bike builders trying desperately to out-shitty-useless each other.

Depends on how you define funny and amazing. I chuckled most of the day and saw some amazingly bad customs.

I think my favorite part is a few seconds after they separate from the shuttle and start to tumble; at one point, you can see the entire state of Florida and the enormous smoke trail left by the launch. It really helps to comprehend the scale of the event.

Other interesting parts:

The boosters run out of fuel and break free at 28 miles altitude, but keep climbing to 41 miles before they start coming back down.

The incredible deceleration when they hit the atmosphere on the way down, they slow 1100 MPH in about 20 seconds.

Coolest thing I saw yesterday, provided we can still play this game - was the Mad River in Farmington/New Durham (NH). It was flowing some kinda hard core yesterday afternoon after all the rain. No, no pics nor vid though...
