I had a couple beers and spent a solid 18 mins on this last night
1.) HEPA
2.) easy to clean
3.) not too noisy
4.) good reviews on Amazon - I found most of the better reviewed products were at least $250
does your house heating/cooling system have a filter through there?
that's all I learned so far...but I'll let a real person give a better answer

Most basements need dehumidifing not filtration because of a mildew mold problem from damp
I like the idea like then wave system where it pumps out wet basement air which is then replaced from dry upstairs air
If its not finished drylock the walls first encapsulate most of the problems

I have a couple of Orecks for the past dozen years or so, excellent addition to a 420 room

Forced hot water heat. Don't think there is a air filter for it.
I do have a dehumidifier. Don't use it often. For the most par its a dry basement. Only time I've had issues is when we get feet of rain in a short amount of time like a few years ago and when a lot of snow with high water content all melts at once. Last year with the 100+ inches of snow we had no water. I did just plug in the dehumidifier to see what the moisture content was and it said 40%.
A 420 room would be fun but this is for my workout room. Have my bicycle down there for the winter times and now and elliptical. I think a couple of bouts with pneumonia has made my lungs a bit more sensitive so I'm looking for something to clear the air out when I'm huffing and puffing from some good old cardio.
One of my Orecks is in my office with a concrete floor, dust builds up in the Oreck filter rather than the back of my computers

they do sound like a bug zapper when the filter gets dirty, but other wise silent on low to somewhat noisy on high. I run mine on low
