Agree. Their biggest pitfall was the attention to the new for 1999 R1. The zx-9 is a more comfortable bike that can go fast but also tour. If I remember correctly, this year was also very light weight. Nice bike!

It seems it got kinda a bad rep in the kid 90s for being porky, but 98/99 I THINK is the “C” model, and that issue was rectified a bit?

The hot ticket prior the r1 was to make a zx7/9. Those moved pretty good but were heavy. rock solid handling though. Every zx9 i knew of got sacrificed to fed the 7/9.
