Agree. Their biggest pitfall was the attention to the new for 1999 R1. The zx-9 is a more comfortable bike that can go fast but also tour. If I remember correctly, this year was also very light weight. Nice bike!

This bike was wildly overlooked in it's time. And a shame too, those were incredibly well rounded machines.

The hot ticket prior the r1 was to make a zx7/9. Those moved pretty good but were heavy. rock solid handling though. Every zx9 i knew of got sacrificed to fed the 7/9.
