Wanted: Beginner bike $1000-1700

A buddy of mine wants to start riding and we've begun the search for a decent beginner bike. He's not a fan of sports bikes, and prefers standards/cruisers. He likes the nighthawk, rebel, virago, stuff like that.

Buddy of mine has a '89 EX500 that we pretty much completely went through.

Brand new (less than 100 miles on them) BT45's, new CDI unit, new plugs, cleaned out carbs, fresh oil change, new fork seals/fluid, new wheel bearings, etc etc

Only downside is that she's ugly. Real ugly. Plastics are destroyed from two tipovers. We trimmed the upper fairing down, looks like Dollah Bills racebike now.

Runs/rides mint. Has a spare rear wheel with a 80% tire too.

He's lookin to get around $1200 for it, I can personally vouche for the mechanical condition of it too (we did all the work in my basement).

Don't mind the surface rust on the cans, that will be gone with fresh paint before any sale.
