2001 WR426 Road legal $2200 obo

Alright, rather have the money. Clean title, could use a good wash. It's been sitting in my storage unit long enough....

It has a Vapor Tach, and a GYTR exhaust. Tires have plenty of tread left, the bike is located in Wakefield, RI.

Mileage I'll have to check, I don't think it's anything crazy. A college kid at URI owned it before me, and he just rode the back roads and trails here in South County. Valves were checked last year with a tune-up he had done.

WR.................all day long. Its a DeTuned YZ426 basically. The DRZ is the slowest of all Sumo's and to get fast they take a lot of Mods. But yet , a great all around bike thats nimble.....just lacks sack

........And I don't know how much the DeTune really is, because it is very happy to twist.

Not detuned, it has a different transmission.

Different ignition curve, jetting, and at least one cam is different IIRC... it's also a good 30lbs heavier.

Still a rocket compared to a DRZ400 though.

Some of that weight is probably associated to the larger gas tank, right?

I'm assuming the OEM exhaust accounts for some of that as well to meet stricter noise and emissions regs on the street.

I had the exact bike, bought it new in 2001, solid bike for sure!
Ignition curve can be set to YZ spec with the grey wire mod, same with jetting, though correct, also the cams are a bit different. All told, with a few minor mods, the power output is not far off from the YZ of the same year...which is about double what the DRZ has
As for the 30lbs, exhaust is a big part, charging system (no battery), lights, bigger fuel tank, thicker rear fender, and extra gear in the gear box, more water/weather tight air box, speedo, etc. Even at 30lbs heavier than the same year YZ at the time, it was comparable in weight to the competition of the same years.
I'd buy one again, and the street title opens the doors for many other uses for that bike.
