Ive decided to part out the bike instead of fixing it:
The bike has 82 hours on the meter and all the parts are super clean. I'm parting it out because the big end of the connecting rod went and seized the motor. The top end is in great shape, cylinder head is in spec, cylinder looks great. Tight and clean parts all around. List of parts and prices below. No I don't want to sell the whole bike.
-Complete cylinder head w/cam valve cover etc: $250
-Cylinder: $100
-Complete bottom end with side covers: $200
-Forks (need seals): $150
-Kehein FCR MX 37mm carb: $125
-front brake with MC: $35
-rear brake: $20
-swingarm with good bearings: $125
-shock in excellent shape yellow spring: $50
-shock linkage: $35
-polished rear subframe: $50
-Easton fat bars: $35
-triple clamps and stem: $50
-CDI and coil: $35
-main frame: $100
-subframe (polished): $50

Last bump before it gets torn apart tonight.
Fixin it yourself?
Indeed. Got the motor out and top end apart. Exactly as I thought, the big end of the rod had clearance issues and mashed itself into the thrust washers between the two halves of the crank which is where all the brass came from.
Everything else looks perfect so far. Looks like it just needs a crank assembly and for good measure, piston and rings.
Under $200 for a crank from Hot Rods IIRC.
time to ditch the For Sale thread, start a build thread, and we can all watch and kick ourselves in the ass for not jumping on the opportunity!
THIS THREAD HAS BEEN SUCH A ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS
Came in hot, ran out of talent?
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
I like to keep NESR entertained in the winter.
I was going to keep it and fix it and then I said "ooh I'll make it a race only supermoto." And then I decided that a 250 might be a little anemic for that. And then I said well if I'm getting a supermoto then I want it to be street legal. And then I figured why put more money into this when it's already apart I could just sell the parts. And now we're here.
Came in hot with all the talent ever in the world and stuck it like hot bubble gum.
250 makes a fine sumo, just not for LRRS. You can race it at Boxshop and OVRP...
