What kind of cruiser do you have? I was thinking of a street glide.

I've got a Fatboy, been eyeing a Street Glide also. Could use the bigger motor and the 6 speed

there are pre requisites to get a street glide:

    it has to be black
you have to have a goatee or mustache
sleeveless shirt with denim or leather vest to wear over it
    skull-danna
    1 hoop earring
    flame tattoos
    chain drive wallet
    fingerless gloves
    live in new england
be a complete pain in the ass
and dont forget to complain that there isnt enough chrome on it

dont get me wrong, id like a nice FLHX, but everybody fucking has them. im not a fan of the Road Glide, but its a nice bike and other than the fairing its exactly the same as the FLHX

its funny when i get a customer that comes to pick up their bike in service and they dont give me a name, they just say they are here to pick up the street glide "which one?" the black one...."which one?"

Shame there's so much stereotyping in this sport...every bike has it's own personality...ride the one that makes you happy and fuck what anybody else thinks...this is America , not Pussyland...

    Good luck selling the bike...

its not a stereotype if i see it on a daily basis.
FLHX is a nice bike, dont get me wrong. its just...well.....think of them as HDs GSXR. they are everywhere.

I agree there is an assload of street glides out there,i also hate the Harley stereotype that goes with owning one. Im the last guy in the world that would ever think i would like or own a HD but ive owned just about every other kind of bike out there and for some reason i still enjoy riding the HD as primitive as it is. I like the street glide mostly because of the hard bags, wind protection and radio and also its comfortable for two people because most of the time i ride it i have the wifey on back.

FLTRX. the fairing grows on you.
im 6'2" 225 and i find the FLHX and the FLHTC style bikes cramped. if i got one i would have to put some mini apes just to get some room ($1000 for that). the bars on the FLTRX are different and give you more room. the only difference between the FLHX and the FLTRX is the fairing and the bars. bags and stereo are all the same. sit on both and compare them if you can. rent them if you get the chance

FYI, 6th gear is overdrive. a lot of people think its a shorter gearbox like a sportbike. its not.

My bud got a new street glide this year and thought the 6th was sluggish so he went back 3 days later and got stage 1 or 2 ???.......woke it up he said. I want to get a street glide as i had a Fxlr yrs ago that i bought from the owner of great bay (His bike). rode it for 2 yrs and sold it for 500 more than i paid then bought a ZX12. Loved the 12 but on the harley it kept me from doing 170+

    Wirelessly posted (HTC EVO "DROID" : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.3; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/GRI40) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

6th gear is for 70+ mph. If you're in it any sooner than that then its gonna lug. I get that a lot from people who are new to the 6 spd tranny.
Depending on where he went will depend on what he got for a stage (?) If its a new flhx then its got the 103. The 103 can be a bit anemic. A simple $150 download from hd, some slipons and a hi flow filter will do wonders. 255 cams will really give it a slap in the face especially if you put on a super tuner.

Ya gotta love a marketing plan that has owners of the product going back to the dealer to spend more money to obtain adequate performance....

When i did my motor the difference was incredible! Granted i did more than just cams and pipes but i did the work myself exept for the machine work and it only cost me about 1100 bucks minus the pipes and PC3,but ill tell you this with 103tq its a blast to ride pulls hard and sounds like a muscle car.

Does doing all the upgrades on the motor fuck with reliabilty?
I rode a 2011 streetglide across the mojave desert and found it had plenty of power and went well for what it is, very comfy too.
BTW I've always had a hankering for the night train , just a good looking motor all round.

I have been looking at the Street vs Road Glide thing too.. Seems the Road Glide is growing on me as well.. I will always have a sportbike and probably a bar hopper of some kind, '50 panhead by next summer, but I think it's time to be able to listen to the radio and cruise for a couple hours without feeling like I got my ass kicked.. I am crippled you know..

How bout doing a top end swap. The performance bits aren't going to help you sell that thing anyway...

I have a nice fresh 4000 mile 88" top end waiting to be put on your bike.. Call me
