my yz250 is a blast in the woods, even though it is setup for mx. but you are right, it can/will toss you at some point I guess...but so can a 125
I will trade you my brand new pit bike with a 155 motor, you can ride that in the woods!

MX #505
Before you give up on it, try my WR. The 265 kit with 'overall' porting lugs like a 4 stroke with no real 'hit' just smooth power across the board. I don't see why the CR wouldn't respond to similar massaging?
I thought the same when I got my yz...Its completely stock, and an absolute blast in the woods, I barely ride any MX. Yes, it will try to kill you a few times, but like someone on here told me when I considered selling it for the same exact reason...13 year olds ride these things.
I picked up a helmet, gloves, chest protector, shirt, and pants for 180 on here, and a set of boots form Seth for 60 bucks...gear can be found cheap, I'd keep the bike.
A man of many names...Jay, Gennaro, Gerry, etc.
What are you looking for cash wise. In April I will be looking.

I wear a normal 10. Thanks for the thought though.

Give it a shot in the woods before jumping on a deal... my 04 CR250R was a blast in the woods even though it isn't technically made for it. I gave it a season to see if it was really for me, both MX and woods riding quite a bit. I had never owned a 2stroke, or ridden dirt much before buying it. Personally I decided to sell it and shop for a 4stroke but it was still a blast to ride. Like others have said, it'll definitely do its best to kill you at times but any bike will really.

I have rode MX bikes in the woods my whole life. You might like it, especially if you ride pits a lot. My last bike was a 04 yz250, before that a cr25 and just got a yz450f, wouldn't consider anything else. Keep it man.
Pussy.

Wrong thread, that should be here.

I just think I'm being honest with my abilities. Hell I might enjoy it a great deal and be fine on it. But I'll probably end up riding it like a pussy and some one else that could really get into it could get it and I could make out with gear and a bike more suited to me instead of a bike that isn't really suited to me and no gear. Does that make sense at all?

The cr's have a good amount of bottom end and make a good woods bike. I would keep it personally. There is nothing like the rush of hitting power band when you open it up down a straight. I have a cagiva 250 woods bike for sale if you are interested though.Originally Posted by obsolete

i vote 'keep it' too... unless you really, really dont want a 2-stroke. save a little cash for a heavy flywheel weight, rear sprocket +1 tooth and i bet you could lug that thing around all day anywhere. it will be lighter than a 4-stroke and simple to maintain. gear you can find cheap no problem, new or used.
if the suspension isnt leaking, just set it soft and ride.
that's going to happen no matter what you're onI want to get into dirty riding but in the woods. MX doesn't really appeal to me and to be honest this is my first dirt bike and I well imagine it will toss me nicely.tame the 2-stroke, they're really fun.

HMF's are LOUD and that would require much more maintenance than the CR in the form of valve adjustments.

The "I'll trade my 250f for your 2stroke" ads scare me because I usually assume they are trying to convert from a money pit to a fun/reliable bike.
Might be a nice bike though, probably just wants more power maybe since he said he'll trade for a 250 or a 450f.
This bike will be harder starting when you topple over in woods, that alone would make me not want it![]()

No possible way it's louder than the CR. That thing hurts lol.
Maintenance doesn't bother me.
