Bike has a Massachusetts "Reconstructed" Title* - Bike low sided which caused the insurance company to total it. The damage was mostly limited to the right bag, valve cover, switch gear, headlight, and headlight support frames.
If you are looking for a GS that looks and rides new, at a fantastic entry point, please read-on.
All damaged parts were replaced with new BMW parts. Bike looks new - no dings or damage anywhere. Plastics were professionally painted BMW black (bike was red).
I purchased this bike last winter, rebuilt it, and used it this season. This is the fourth BMW that I have rebuilt. I'm selling because another project calling my name!

Fine print:
The black side panels are painted rattle-can flat black. I could not justify spending money on replacing these because they look fine.
There were some scratches on the left valve cover - perhaps from a tip-over. I sanded and repainted.
The rear luggage carrier had some rash on it. I filled any voids in the plastic with bondo, sanded, and painted flat black.
*A quick word about how a salvage title gets converted to a "Reconstructed" title in Massachusetts:
MA has one of the most stringent titling processes of all states - they will not allow any used parts, or parts purchased through eBay or junk yards - all parts have to be purchased from a dealer, and evidence of the purchase has to be backed-up with an easily verifiable receipt. In order to pass the inspection process, which is conducted by the State Police, you have to present the insurance company appraisal - the State LEO looks over the appraisal, matches the appraisal to the receipts, and then verifies that the part that the appraisal called for is on the bike. As an example, if the appraisal list has on it a valve cover, and you don't have a brand new valve cover and receipt, you fail. Technically, every part, every nut and bolt that's on the appraisal needs to have a receipt. The inspection is not a safety inspection (that comes later) , it is more of an insurance and theft inspection. If you pass the inspection in MA, you are given a "Reconstructed" title, and the bike is eligible for full collision coverage by any insurance company that does business in MA.
Please check with your insurance company and DMV about the implications of purchasing a bike with a Reconstructed title. All states are different.
