10/22/09 SOLD
I have a pair of SM type 2 Handlebars. These are made for a Gen 1 SV650 ('99-'02).
The handle bars are made beautifully and the quality is unsurpassed by any other that I have seen. The problem is that they are not straight.

I crashed my bike with these on at a trackday and bent them. The crash was on the left side. In attempt to salvage the rest of the trackday, since I crashed in the first or second session (yay me), I 'fixed' the bars in the paddock on a concrete slab with a hammer and block of wood. They are close to being usable and I did ride them for a while after the trackday. They are not perfect and need more work to get them back to reasonable. If you have access to a press or are just handy with this kinda stuff then you can likely make them beautiful again. The surface finish is less than desireable and could use some light sanding to get it back to snuff (especially under the throttle tube)
As the bend was isolated to the left side, the throttle tube always worked fine, no binding. However, like I mentioned before, the concrete left a nice set of marks in the surface of the bar. Over time, it might have adverse wear characteristics with the plastic throttle tube so a smoothing over would be useful, however once the grips are on, 80% of the scuffing is hidden so it's not as much of a cosmetic issue.
The bend was not severe and was maybe an inch or two away from where it is now (measured at the end). These bars are pretty rugged and I don't think you would need to be concerned about the bar fatiguing and cracking, however that's just speculation. The wall thickness on these is pretty heavy duty.
I have clip-ons now and these just hang out in the garage and taunt me with how much I suck at riding; I want them gone. Make an offer, I will likely accept. I can ship or you can P/U.
