SOLD _ 2009 Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 4V - $6900 (Midcoast Maine)
2009 Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 4V
As I sit here in the garage surrounded by motorcycles, Guzzis, the HD, Honda and others I started thinking about the next few years and retirement, cutting back on a little of the excess that I have indulged in other the past, oh thirty five years.. And I am running down the possible candidates of a smaller stable of motorcycles.
This truly pains me to let this Guzzi go... I actually love this motorcycle, the ride is awesome, handles better than it has a right to, predictable and tracts where you want it to.
However, I have come to finally admit that the Stelvio is a tad too tall for me. Before I am tempted to ride it somewhere and drop it in a place that I cannot get out of I have decided to sell her and get something that is better suited to my size... I am a bit short of leg.
I'm thinking possibly a Griso as I do enjoy the performance of this engine and the early Grisos use the same power plant. Although I have to be honest, I am also thinking about a nice BMW 1200RT rig.
I bought the Stelvio from the second owner in Phoenix, rode it back to San Diego where I was working, when the job was done I shipped it back to Maine.
While in the South West I rode the Guzzi all over the San Diego County Eastern Hills and out to the desert, once in a great while I would venture down a dirt road but not often.
Such a stable mount, very confidence inspiring. The engine pushes out more than enough power to climb the hills with little effort or down shifting, with this new canister it makes a real neat noise too...With the correct tires I dare say this thing is nimble, turns in nicely and still remains stable. Absolutely awesome package that Guzzi assembled.
