Anyone know any dealers (north of Boston) that are good about test rides? I'm seriously considering a DRZ as my next bike and I've been dying to ride one.
My local dealer (Cycles 128) doesn't seem to have any used in stock.
Thanks all,
-Sean

Crap, I posted this in the wrong forum. Can a mod move this to general?
I suggest you do some research at supermotojunkie.com.... The feedback is that I hear is that it is way underpowered, and wicked heavy. Plus's are reliability and parts.
I went Husky for the above reason of power and fun factor... negatives is they require a bit more maintenance, but they are a cinch to work on. My 510 weighs in under 270 lbs wet!
2001 RC51!!!
2007 Husky SMR 510 - no longer... blown tranny
Ive got a sm610 for sale..
Current Toys:
2005 Nissan Titan CC
I've done many hours of reading on thumpertalk, and it really seems like the only downside is the power output. With that being said, it sounds like you can get a reasonable amount out of it with a few mods.
I'm not a power junkie by any means, I just want something that's really reliable, cheap, and fun in the turns. The DRZ sounds like it can do all that.
Again, that's one reason why I want to ride it, to see how underpowered it really is.
to bad you werent closer,i would let you try mine....i have had more fun on this thing in the last week, than i have had on my old rocket for a whole year
RIP....jason white.... 8/3/07....we love and miss you dearly
I like them too, I've heard mostly good things
Still looking to ride one. Cycles said I could ride a used one if they could track one down, but can't so far (thanks to John M for his efforts no matter what!).
If anyone is willing feel free to PM/post. You're also welcome to ride my SV. And of course the "if I break anything I pay to repair/replace" ABSOLUTELY stands. Hell I'd sign on it if you wanted.
I believe manny's old piece of junk DRZ is available for test rides for $25 per day or a case of beer.
Isn't his DRZ as far from stock as one could be?
Anyone out there know anyone with a 400SM I could take out for a quick ride? Bueller?
Buy one. Mod the CRAP out of it, its a great project. Most fun under 100mph.

I do yes! I ended up finding a CHERRY 2002 400S in Wenham, the guy motarded it out, and it's gorgeous. I sign the papers tonight, and I should have it in 4 days once I get the money together. I'm pumped!
The only "downside" is the suspension is WAAAAY too soft for my weight (220ish, falling). I need to get some springs in there asap.
did you test ride it?

EDIT: I ended up backing out of the sale. I hated doing it because the bike is in such good shape (and I HATED being essentially a tire kicker), but it would have been a dumb financial move me. If anyone is looking for a used DRZ in great shape, here is the listing:
2002 Suzuki DRZ 400 S w/ extra set of Supermotard wheels/tyres
